CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Acura RDX
overall

Summary
With 173 currently listed for sale near Washington, DC and an average price of $31,319.00, 42.2% of 2022 Acura RDXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Acura RDX 4.6 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
100.0% of 2022 RDX models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Acura RDX stands out as an entry-level luxury sport/utility vehicle that delivers on both parts of the SUV equation. It is the smaller of Acura’s two sport-utes, and it comes with a standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine, an available torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system, and five trim levels offered as packages. Acura also freshens the 2022 RDX with new styling, a quieter cabin, additional equipment, and refined ride and handling characteristics for some versions.
That combination makes the 2022 Acura RDX appealing to buyers who want a luxury SUV that feels well-rounded rather than flashy. Its strengths include great handling, plenty of cargo space, and excellent value for money. The tradeoffs are worth noting, though: the rear seat is uncomfortable, and the technology can be unintuitive. Owner feedback generally reinforces the RDX’s smooth drive, comfortable interior, performance, and storage capacity, while also echoing complaints about the non-touch screen interface and the lack of a heads-up display.

The Acura RDX is a great choice for a car. It has everything that I could ask for in a car. I loved the color choices, both in and out. The car rides smooth with 4 choices to drive in all weather conditions. This is my first car with Bluetooth which adds to my enjoyable ride. My short list for a new car included BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and Toyota Highlander. I definitely made the right choice with my new Acura RDX .

It’s a fun little SUV, not too small & not too big. Zippy for a 4 cylinder! Lots of storage with seats down. Seats are comfortable. I wish the heads-up display option was on this vehicle. Overall happy with purchase so far!

If you find a listing below $31,085.35, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2022 Acura RDX a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Acura RDX earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its smooth drive, comfortable interior, performance, and storage capacity. The model also gets credit for its strong overall quality and well-rounded feel, which fits a luxury SUV that aims to be practical rather than flashy.
The main trade-offs are the non-touch screen interface and the rear seat, which the expert review calls out as uncomfortable. That means you should expect a vehicle that feels polished and capable, but not one that leads the class in tech ease or back-seat comfort.
For shoppers who want a luxury SUV with strong handling, useful cargo space, and broad everyday appeal, the RDX fits the brief well. With 29.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Acura RDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary points to a smooth drive, comfortable interior, and strong overall quality, while also highlighting the model’s performance and storage capacity. It also reinforces the RDX as a vehicle many drivers feel good about living with over time.
The expert review adds that the drivetrain behaves beautifully and that the SUV’s quieter cabin and refined ride help it feel more polished than before. Acura also includes a wireless charging pad and wireless smartphone integration, which can make day-to-day use feel less cumbersome.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about whether you’ll be satisfied with the interface and rear-seat comfort over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura RDX?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on cabin condition, electronics usability, and whether the vehicle’s features work the way you expect. Pay extra attention to the rear seat and infotainment setup, since those are the areas most likely to affect your day-to-day satisfaction.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes the base model plus Technology, A-Spec, Advance, A-Spec Advance, and the limited-production PMC Edition. The base model is the most stripped-down version, while higher packages add more equipment and a more upscale feel.
- Powertrain: Every 2022 RDX uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on the base, Technology, and A-Spec packages, while SH-AWD is standard on Advance and A-Spec Advance and available on some lower packages.
- Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. With the Technology package and higher, you also get front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
- Infotainment: The RDX uses a 10.2-inch display with Acura’s touchpad-based TTI system. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Amazon Alexa Built-in, and a wireless charging pad are included, and the Technology package and higher add navigation.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the RDX did not come close to its EPA fuel economy rating of 23 mpg in testing, and it averaged 20.6 mpg on the evaluation loop.
Which 2022 Acura RDX trim should I buy?
The 2022 Acura RDX is offered in 5 trim levels: base model, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, and A-Spec Advance.
Here's the short version:
- base model: This is the entry point if you want the RDX’s core strengths at the lowest price. You still get the turbocharged engine, the 10-speed automatic, AcuraWatch, wireless smartphone integration, and the standard 10.2-inch display, so it covers the essentials well.
- Technology: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation and a 12-speaker ELS Studio audio system. If you want a more complete luxury experience without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to focus on.
- A-Spec: Choose this if you want a sportier appearance and a more expressive feel without moving all the way to the pricier upper packages. It keeps the RDX’s strong driving character while adding more visual flair.
- Advance: This is the comfort-focused upgrade, with standard SH-AWD and the adaptive-damping suspension. It suits you best if you want the smoothest ride and a more premium driving experience.
- A-Spec Advance: This is the most fully equipped mainstream version and combines the sportier look with the comfort and hardware upgrades of the Advance package. It’s the right pick if you want the most complete RDX short of the PMC Edition.
The safety package is strongest on Technology and higher, where front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking are included.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura RDX?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,791 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.04% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 86.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $31,085.35, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Acura RDX's resale value?
The current average of $31,586 sits slightly below last year's $33,618.
That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation. If you plan to sell later, the current market gives you a useful baseline: a lower entry price today can reduce the amount of value you have left to lose.
The RDX’s broad appeal should help support demand, especially because shoppers continue to respond to its comfort, handling, and value. A well-kept example with strong equipment and clean history should be easier to move than one with visible wear or missing features.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Acura RDX safe?
The 2022 RDX earns a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact and rollover resistance ratings and five-star side-impact ratings.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
AcuraWatch is standard, and for 2022 it adds pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. With the Technology package and higher, you also get front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
The expert review notes that Acura’s adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping systems are mostly accurate and reasonably refined, but they are not as smooth or sophisticated as some rivals. It also mentions false warnings and unnecessary steering corrections in certain conditions, so you should test those systems carefully on your own route.
Should I buy a 2022 Acura RDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.04% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 update brings a quieter cabin, added equipment, and refined ride and handling.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,885, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $31,586 average.
- It emphasizes balance, comfort, and utility with a redesigned interior and infotainment approach.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $35,607, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $31,586 average.
- It keeps the RDX’s strong performance and comfort while staying competitively priced.
The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, refinement, and market availability, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money while still delivering the RDX formula. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-year alternative, the 2023 remains a strong upscale choice.
