How much does the 2021 Toyota Sienna cost?

Prices have softened 4.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,456 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Toyota Sienna a good car?

Generally — the 2021 Toyota Sienna earns 4.3/5 from owners and 8.3/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise the roomy interior, excellent gas mileage, and smooth handling. The AWD and hybrid combination also comes up as a strong fit for road trips and everyday family use.

The main trade-offs are the lacking stereo and uninspired styling, along with some concerns about acceleration and interior material quality. In practical terms, this is a minivan that leans hard into efficiency and space rather than flash.

With its family-focused layout and standard hybrid setup, it fits you best if you want a practical people mover that prioritizes comfort and efficiency. The market also shows 34.1% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Toyota Sienna reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as dependable, with strong satisfaction around the roomy cabin, excellent gas mileage, and smooth handling. The hybrid setup is also presented as a proven combination, which supports confidence in everyday use.

Toyota’s hybrid system is described as a proven one, and the model’s standard equipment and long warranty coverage add to the sense that it is built for long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the concept and more about finding a well-kept example with consistent maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Sienna?

At 71.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, interior condition, and any signs of prior repair. Because this model is often bought for family duty, it makes sense to focus on wear items, cabin condition, and whether the equipment you want is actually present.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE trim uses 17-inch wheels, while higher trims add larger wheels and more upscale exterior and interior touches. The base trim also misses some convenience and audio upgrades that appear higher in the lineup.
• Powertrain: A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors make 243 horsepower, with front-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive available across the lineup. The CVT helps efficiency, but it can blunt throttle response.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane-tracing assist, pre-collision system with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, lane-departure alert, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. The Star Safety System is also standard.
• Infotainment: A nine-inch touchscreen is standard, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Bluetooth. Wireless charging, premium audio, and rear-seat entertainment are available or reserved for higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 36 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 36 mpg combined; AWD models are rated at 35/36/35 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota Sienna is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core hybrid powertrain, standard safety tech, and the nine-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sienna without giving up the essentials.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more convenience and comfort features while staying below the higher-priced luxury-oriented grades. It also opens the door to more available tech and family-friendly options.
• XSE: This trim adds a more distinctive look and larger wheel options, making it the choice if you want a sportier appearance without moving all the way to the top of the range.
• Limited: This is where you get more upscale tech and comfort, including the larger driver display and available premium audio and digital mirror features. It suits you if you want a more premium family hauler.
• Platinum: This is the most feature-rich version, with the most advanced tech and the highest level of equipment. It makes sense if you want the most fully loaded Sienna available.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 and the Star Safety System are standard across all trim levels.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Sienna?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,456 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,945, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $33,899 sits slightly below last year's $35,341.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also suggests the market has adjusted downward from where it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level.

The good news is that a model with strong owner satisfaction can stay in demand with used shoppers. That helps support future resale, especially if you keep the vehicle clean, well maintained, and accident-free.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Toyota Sienna safe?

The 2021 Toyota Sienna gets Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which includes full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane-tracing assist, pre-collision system with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, lane-departure alert, automatic high beams, and road sign assist.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

That suite is standard across all trim levels, along with the Star Safety System, 10 airbags, LATCH connectors, a rear-seat reminder system, tire pressure monitoring, and an inflator kit. Buyers can still opt for a spare tire, and the spare tire location has been moved for better convenience.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Toyota’s 2021 redesign adds a standard hybrid powertrain and a major makeover.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $26,232, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $33,899 average.
• It offers practical space and available all-wheel drive.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $35,993, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $33,899 average.
• It adds a Woodland trim for a more adventurous look.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned hybrid Sienna with strong efficiency and modern tech, the 2021 is the right target. If price matters most, the 2020 is the cheaper path; if you want the newer-year carryover with a little extra personality, the 2022 is worth a look.
