Used 2021 Toyota Sequoia for Sale near Colorado

How much does the 2021 Toyota Sequoia cost?

Prices have softened 1.47% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 140 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.4/5 owner-rated SUV with an expert score of 7/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its practical layout, good looks, smooth ride, and reliable performance. The overview also points to serious space and capability, which fits the Sequoia’s role as a roomy three-row SUV with truck-like utility.

The trade-offs are just as clear: poor fuel economy and poor handling remain recurring drawbacks, and the used market can feel pricey for what you get. That makes it a better fit if you value space, comfort, and traditional SUV character over efficiency or modern polish.

With 32.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to reliable performance, and the expert review also describes the Sequoia’s age as a benefit for reliability because it has not been reworked as frequently as newer designs. The cost-effectiveness commentary adds that its long run has helped it develop a reputation for good reliability.

That said, you’re still buying an older, truck-based SUV, so condition and maintenance history matter more than they would on a newer design.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on every candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples. Focus on wear items, signs of heavy family use, and whether the truck-like chassis and suspension feel tight and well maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR5 starts with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, three-zone climate control, pushbutton start, remote keyless entry, a 7-inch touchscreen, a power moonroof, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The SR5 Premium Package adds a power-folding/reclining third row, power-adjustable front passenger seat, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. The TRD Sport adds unique 20-inch wheels, chrome accents, Satin-black TRD logos, TRD floor mats, Bilstein shocks, and a TRD sport-tuned suspension. The Limited adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, auto-dimming power side mirrors, a power liftgate, navigation, and a 12-speaker premium audio system. The Nightshade Edition adds black 20-inch wheels, black leather upholstery, second-row captain’s chairs, and LED fog lights with dark chrome surrounds. The TRD Pro adds Rigid Industries LED fog lights, 18-inch BBS forged aluminum TRD wheels, Fox Racing shocks, a TRD-tuned suspension, skid plates, and a limited-slip center differential. The Platinum adds heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, a larger 9-inch touchscreen, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and air suspension.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 5.7-liter V8 with 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is available with low range. It delivers strong acceleration and truck-like capability, but the setup is old-school and contributes to weak fuel economy.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense-P is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. It also comes with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front-and-rear parking sensors. There are no optional safety features, and you do not get lane-keeping assist or lane-tracing assist.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and a WiFi hotspot. A larger 9-inch screen appears on some higher-spec examples, but the system remains simple and easy to use rather than cutting-edge.
• Fuel efficiency: The rear-wheel-drive version returns 13 mpg city, 17 mpg highway, and 15 mpg combined. The four-wheel-drive version keeps the same city and highway figures and returns 14 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, Nightshade Edition, TRD Pro, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core Sequoia experience with the V8, a power moonroof, three-zone climate control, and the standard safety and infotainment setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and can live without the nicer cabin upgrades.
• TRD Sport: This trim adds a sportier look and a TRD-tuned suspension with Bilstein shocks, so it stands out if you want a more distinctive appearance and chassis tuning without jumping to the top of the range.
• Limited: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it layers in leather, heated front seats, navigation, a power liftgate, and a premium audio system while staying below the upper trims.
• Nightshade Edition: This one is mainly about style and added comfort touches like black leather upholstery, black wheels, and second-row captain’s chairs. It suits you if appearance and a more upscale vibe matter more than value.
• TRD Pro: This is the most specialized trim, with skid plates, Fox Racing shocks, forged wheels, and a limited-slip center differential. It’s the one to choose if you want the most off-road-focused setup in the lineup.
• Platinum: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, a larger touchscreen, and air suspension. It’s the pick if you want the most comfort and convenience.

Toyota Safety Sense-P is standard across the lineup, and there are no optional safety features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Sequoia?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 140 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.47% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $47,232, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $47,232 sits slightly below last year's $47,935.

That mild decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to sell soon. Still, the drop is not dramatic, so the Sequoia is holding value reasonably well for a large SUV with a loyal audience.

Its owner satisfaction rating also helps support demand over time. Buyers who want a roomy, traditional SUV with strong capability tend to keep looking for this model, which can help resale stability.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Toyota Sequoia safe?

The 2021 Toyota Sequoia earns four-star ratings in the NHTSA rollover test.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense-P is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. You also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front-and-rear parking sensors.

The main caveat is that this SUV rides on an older platform, and it does not offer more advanced features like lane-keeping assist or lane-tracing assist. That keeps its safety tech respectable, but not class-leading.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds a new Nightshade Special Edition while keeping the Sequoia’s proven V8, roomy layout, and standard safety tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It keeps the same old-school full-size SUV formula while adding a more practical, standard advanced-safety setup.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, inventory, and proven capability, the 2021 is the better place to start. If you’re shopping mainly for the newest version of this formula, the 2022 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2021’s softer market and broader deal availability.
