Used 2021 Toyota C-HR for Sale nearNewark, NJ

How much does the 2021 Toyota C-HR cost?

Prices have softened 1.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 510 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2021 Toyota C-HR a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Toyota C-HR earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, performance, and fuel efficiency, and they also like the modern technology features and comfortable interior. In use, that lines up with the C-HR’s funky styling and its appeal as a more distinctive alternative to the usual compact crossover formula.

The trade-offs are clear: it can be noisy, its fuel economy is not a strong point, and visibility is poor. If you want a small crossover that prioritizes personality and standard safety equipment over maximum practicality, it fits that use case well.

33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Toyota C-HR reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle people feel good about keeping, with praise centered on performance, fuel efficiency, modern technology, and a comfortable interior. The expert evaluation also emphasizes Toyota’s tried-and-true dependability and reliability, which supports the idea that this is a model you can count on over time.

Toyota also frames the C-HR as a value-oriented choice with the kind of reliability buyers often want in a used crossover. For long-term ownership, your main risk is less about the brand promise and more about finding a well-kept example with the right equipment and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota C-HR?

At 74.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because visibility is already a known drawback, it also makes sense to focus on how well the car’s cameras, mirrors, and driver-assistance features are working during your test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE comes with automatic LED headlamps and 17-inch alloy wheels, while higher trims add 18-inch wheels and more upscale cabin equipment. The Limited stands out with a high- and low-beam LED adaptive front lighting system, and the XLE and Nightshade add features like a leather-trimmed steering wheel and auto-folding power outside mirrors.
• Powertrain: You get a single 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a CVT and 144 horsepower. It is front-wheel drive only, and the setup is tuned more for balanced daily driving than for outright speed.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane centering, and a pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking, steering assist, and pedestrian detection. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the base model and become standard starting with the XLE trim.
• Infotainment: Every model gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay compatibility. You also get Bluetooth, a six-speaker audio system, and a three-month SiriusXM trial.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA ratings are 27 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

Which 2021 Toyota C-HR trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota C-HR is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, XLE, Nightshade, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core C-HR experience at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the styling, standard safety tech, and infotainment without paying for extras you may not need.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds useful comfort and convenience upgrades, including a leather-trimmed steering wheel, auto-folding power mirrors, and the safety equipment that is missing from the base model.
• Nightshade: Choose this if you want the blacked-out appearance package and the same general equipment level as the XLE, but the styling is the main reason to step up.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, with heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat, ambient lighting, and the adaptive front lighting system. It suits you best if you want the most upscale C-HR experience.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota C-HR?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 510 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,153, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Toyota C-HR's resale value?

The current average of $19,765 sits slightly below last year's $19,973.

That kind of softening suggests the C-HR is holding value reasonably well, but not aggressively appreciating. If you buy now, you should expect resale to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum.

For a future seller, the upside is that the C-HR still has a distinct design and a strong satisfaction profile, which can help keep buyer interest steady. The downside is that a modest price decline means you should be realistic about short-term appreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Toyota C-HR safe?

The 2021 Toyota C-HR was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it earns four-star ratings from NHTSA for later-release models and five-star ratings for early-release models.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane centering, and a pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking, steering assist, and pedestrian detection. Road Sign Assist is also included, along with the STAR Safety System, 10 airbags, hill-start assist, and a rearview camera.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the base model and become standard starting with the XLE trim. The main caveat is that NHTSA results vary by production date, so you should verify which build period a used example falls into.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota C-HR or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model adds Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 as standard equipment, which is a meaningful safety upgrade for this year.

The bottom line: If you want the C-HR with the strongest standard safety setup and a market that still offers some negotiating room, the 2021 is the right path to focus on. If your priority is simply finding the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but you should still weigh equipment and condition carefully.
