Originally a gas-powered vehicle, the Toyota C-HR disappeared from the U.S. lineup after the 2022 model year and was re-introduced in 2026 as an all-new, all-electric compact crossover. Primary competitors for the latest version include the closely related Subaru Uncharted, the Volvo EX30, the Kia EV3, and the Hyundai Kona Electric. Although they are slightly larger, the Chevrolet Equinox EV and the Tesla Model Y could also be seen as rivals. The 2027 Toyota C-HR has two trims—SE and XSE.

What’s New for the 2027 Toyota C-HR
The Toyota C-HR was all-new for the 2026 model year, so the 2027 model year is a direct carryover model. Toyota brought the C-HR nameplate back to the U.S. as an all-electric compact crossover that offers North American Charging Standard (NACS) ports, up to 287 miles of range, and a 14-inch infotainment screen.
Design
The 2027 Toyota C-HR has a coupe-like profile and compact proportions. The SE trim gets 18-inch wheels, while the XSE upgrades to 20-inch wheels. While there aren’t any appearance packages, the XSE offers a black roof option that ranges from $500 to $975, depending on whether buyers pair it with a no-cost paint color or the premium Wind Chill Pearl paint.
Powertrain
The 2027 C-HR comes standard with dual electric motors and all-wheel drive, and the combined system output is 338 horsepower. Range estimates vary based on trim, which is due to the difference in wheel sizes. The SE trim gets up to 287 miles of range, while the XSE gets up to 273 miles. Both trims come standard with NACS charging port compatibility and can charge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
Interior
The Toyota C-HR has seatbelts for five, but four passengers will fit more comfortably. The C-HR has less rear legroom than most of its competitors, but it has competitive cargo space with 25.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats and up to 59.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. Standard seating surfaces are fabric and synthetic leather, and the XSE adds a light gray synthetic suede and leatherette option. A panoramic moonroof is only offered as an option ($1,000) on the XSE trim. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are standard, and heated rear seats are only available on the XSE as a part of the cold weather package ($450).
Technology
The 2027 C-HR comes with a lot of standard tech features, including a 14-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, two front wireless phone chargers, four USB-C ports, rain-sensing wipers, and a power liftgate. Upgrading to the XSE trim adds an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, a driver’s memory seat, hands-free highway driving at low speeds, and a surround-view camera. A six-speaker audio system is standard, but a nine-speaker JBL premium audio system is available as a $600 option for the XSE trim. The C-HR also offers numerous connected services, including cloud navigation, personalized service updates, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and enhanced roadside assistance. There are free trials of varying length for each of these services, after which subscription fees apply.
