CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Kia Stinger
overall
Summary
With 406 currently listed for sale and an average price of $25,601.00, 32.0% of 2021 Kia Stingers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Kia Stinger 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.83 / 10.
68.5% of 2021 Stinger models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Kia Stinger stands out because Kia took a brand long known for value and used it to show off a sporty side. It is described as a head-turning, low-slung, four-door sports car, which makes it feel unusual for the brand and gives it a distinctive place in the lineup. For buyers looking for something different, that combination of performance and style is a big part of the appeal.
It also has a strong value story. The Stinger is presented as an absolute value performance/luxury car, and it shares underpinnings with the Genesis G70 luxury sedan while sometimes feeling more special than its upscale corporate cousin. It is also framed as a BMW 3 Series rival for thousands less, which helps explain why it can be attractive to shoppers who want a sporty luxury car without paying as much as some alternatives.
The Stinger’s strengths are reinforced by its excellent value for money, multiple powertrain options, and fun-to-drive character. Its main drawback is that advanced safety features are not standard, so buyers may need to weigh its appealing performance-and-luxury mix against that omission.

Have a 2021 GT1 AWD. Owned for 6 months. Bought used because we couldnt find a 2023 in our area we wanted. Best value compared to the Audi A5 Sportback and Mercedes CLA 250/AMG 35. The 3.3L twin turbo is a dream. My wife and I absolutely love this car.

The Stinger is presented as a car that blends performance with luxury while still leaning on Kia’s value reputation. Its 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty also supports the ownership case, and the performance notes describe both engines as lively enough for daily driving and spirited use.
The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a generous warranty, which is a meaningful ownership perk for a used buyer. For long-term ownership, the biggest risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and equipped the way you want, especially since some desirable safety features were not standard.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Kia Stinger?
At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a car with prior damage. Focus on overall condition, equipment level, and whether the features you want were included on that trim. Because some advanced driver-assistance features were not standard, it’s worth confirming exactly what’s installed before you buy.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base setup includes a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, dual-zone climate control, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped flat-bottomed sport steering wheel. Higher trims add LED accent lighting, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, upgraded Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
- Powertrain: The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The GT uses a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available.
- Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams require an upgrade from the GT-Line and GT.
- Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches, while upgraded trims get an 8-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Bluetooth, multiple USB ports, and wireless device charging. The GT2 adds a 15-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo and a head-up display.
- Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version is the four-cylinder with rear-wheel drive at 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. With all-wheel drive, that engine returns 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The V6 returns 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Which 2021 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?
The 2021 Kia Stinger is offered in 4 trim levels: GT-Line, GT, GT1, and GT2.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The GT-Line gives you the core Stinger experience, but you’ll miss out on the more powerful V6 and several comfort upgrades that appear higher in the range.
- Sweet-spot trim: The GT1 is the best value if you want the stronger V6 and more creature comforts without jumping all the way to the top trim.
- Premium/top trim: The GT2 is the most luxurious choice, with Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a head-up display, and the premium audio system.
- Off-road trim: Not applicable here for typical daily driving.
Most driver-assistance features are only standard on the higher-level GT1 and GT2 models, so those trims are the safest bet if you want the most complete safety package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Kia Stinger?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 420 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.46% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 68.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,372.21, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Kia Stinger's resale value?
The current average of $25,685 sits slightly below last year's $26,883.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become a little more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to move a car quickly. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The Stinger’s value-oriented reputation and strong feature content should help it stay appealing to shoppers looking for a sporty luxury sedan.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Kia Stinger safe?
It earns five-star ratings from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but more advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims. That means you should verify whether the specific car you’re considering has automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams if those matter to you.
The main safety caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so a lower-trim car may leave you with a less complete driver-assistance package than you expect.
Should I buy a 2021 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 68.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.46% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines strong value, multiple powertrain choices, and a fun-to-drive character.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $28,768, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,685 average.
- It gets more power, especially from the base engine.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2021 is the smarter buy because it offers strong performance and a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for the updated 2022, the extra power and refresh may be worth it, especially if you want the newest version available.
