Is the 2022 Kia Stinger a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia Stinger earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious feel, strong performance, and great handling, and they also highlight the comfortable interior and advanced technology. The main trade-offs are the cramped back seat and sluggish touchscreen response.

For you, that means the Stinger fits best if you want a stylish performance sedan with upscale character and strong value, rather than maximum rear-seat space or the quickest infotainment response. It also posts 31.7% good or great deals, which points to solid market availability.

The owner feedback also points to a car that feels luxurious, fast, and technologically advanced, while repeatedly calling out strong performance and a comfortable interior. That kind of praise usually lines up with a vehicle people feel good about living with over time.

The expert review adds that the Stinger’s driving manners have improved since launch and that earlier production issues were largely worked out by this point. Kia also emphasizes the model’s value and lower long-term maintenance burden compared with some rivals.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been cared for properly, especially given the concerns some owners have raised about the front brakes.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Stinger?

At 73.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been driven hard or modified. Focus on body condition, brake feel, tire wear, and whether the infotainment and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GT-Line starts with a different lighting setup and 18-inch wheels, while GT models add more LEDs and 19-inch wheels; GT2 models also get Nappa leather, a head-up display, and a 360-degree surround view.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque, while GT models use a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with 368 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Drive Wise includes lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitoring plus collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert plus collision avoidance, forward-collision avoidance plus pedestrian/cyclist detection and junction-turning assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, lane follow assist, safe exit warning, and highway driving assist. Forward parking assist is limited to GT2 models.
• Infotainment: All models get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, navigation with Uvo link, Uvo eServices remote commands, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, multi-device Bluetooth connectivity, and split-screen functionality.
• Fuel efficiency: The GT-Line RWD returns 22 mpg city and 32 mpg highway, while AWD variants return 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. GT RWD models return 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, while GT AWD models return 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Stinger is offered in 3 trim levels: GT-Line, GT1, GT2.

Here's the short version:

• GT-Line: This is the best-value trim if you want the Stinger’s new 300-hp turbo-four, the 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, and the expanded standard safety suite without paying for the V6 upgrades.
• GT1: This trim adds the V6 powertrain and more upscale interior touches, making it the right middle ground if you want stronger performance and a more premium feel.
• GT2: This is the most fully equipped choice, with Nappa leather, the head-up display, the 15-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and the full safety and convenience content.

GT2 is also the only trim with forward parking assist, a head-up display, and a 360-degree surround view.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Stinger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 460 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,684, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Stinger's resale value?

The current average of $28,148 sits slightly below last year's $29,035.

That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may temper short-term appreciation if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer pricing suggests you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment.

The Stinger’s strong owner satisfaction and distinctive performance-sedan appeal should help it stay desirable with shoppers who want something different. Well-kept examples with the right trim and features are likely to hold attention better than average.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Stinger safe?

The 2022 Kia Stinger earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia’s Drive Wise suite is standard and includes lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitoring plus collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert plus collision avoidance, forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian/cyclist detection and junction-turning assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, lane follow assist, safe exit warning, and highway driving assist.

The main trim-level safety gap is that forward parking assist, the head-up display, and the 360-degree surround view are reserved for GT2 models. The overall safety picture is strong, but you should still verify which driver-assistance features are present on the exact car you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?
