Is the 2021 Kia Stinger a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Kia Stinger earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

It stands out as Kia’s sporty side in a low-slung, four-door sports car package, and it is positioned as a BMW 3 Series rival for thousands less. You also get multiple powertrain options and a car that is described as fun to drive.

The main trade-off is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you need to pay close attention to trim and equipment levels if driver assistance matters to you. The market also shows 35.5% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Kia Stinger reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Stinger is presented as a value-focused performance and luxury car, and that combination usually matters when you are thinking about ownership over time. Its 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty also supports confidence in long-term durability.

The four-cylinder model is described as lively and full of pep, while the V6 makes the car feel like a true performance sedan. The Stinger also has high-performance dampers across the lineup, which reinforces its sporty character without sacrificing everyday usability.

The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is making sure the car was maintained properly, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a more heavily equipped trim.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Kia Stinger?

At 66.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment level matches the trim you are considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Stinger comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless device charging, dual-zone climate control, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped, flat-bottomed sport steering wheel. The GT1 adds LED accent lighting, an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and the more powerful V6 powertrain, while the GT2 adds upgraded Nappa Leather upholstery, 16-way power-adjustable sport seats with Air Cell 4-way lumbar support, heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while the GT’s 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 makes 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. Both engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission, and you can get rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams require an upgrade from the Stinger GT-Line and Stinger GT.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches, and upgraded trims get an 8-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Bluetooth connectivity, multiple USB ports, and wireless device charging. The GT2 adds a 15-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo system and a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. With AWD, that engine returns 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The V6 returns 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?

The 2021 Kia Stinger is offered in 4 trim levels: GT-Line, GT, GT1, and GT2.

Here's the short version:

• GT-Line: This is the entry point and gives you the core Stinger experience with the standard 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, the 7-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and the sporty cabin setup. It is the trim to consider if you want the lowest starting point and still want the Stinger’s style and everyday equipment.
• GT: This trim adds the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, plus performance hardware like a variable exhaust system, launch control, Brembo performance brakes, and a limited-slip differential. If you care most about driving excitement, this is the one that best matches the Stinger’s performance mission.
• GT1: This trim keeps much of the GT-Line’s comfort equipment but adds LED accent lighting, an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and the more powerful V6 powertrain. It is the best-value choice if you want the V6 without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• GT2: This is the most luxurious version, with Nappa Leather upholstery, 16-way power-adjustable sport seats, heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and the premium 15-speaker Harman Kardon stereo. Choose this if you want the most upscale Stinger experience.

Most driver assistance features are only standard on the higher-level GT1 and GT2 models, so those trims are the safer bet if you want more advanced safety tech.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Kia Stinger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop but still need to move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 425 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,203, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Kia Stinger's resale value?

The current average of $24,974 sits slightly below last year's $26,287.

That price movement suggests the Stinger has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers. For a future seller, that means resale value may depend heavily on condition, trim, and how well the car is equipped.

Because the model is positioned as a value performance/luxury car, well-kept examples should continue to attract shoppers who want style and performance without paying new-car money. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Kia Stinger safe?

The 2021 Kia Stinger earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams require an upgrade from the GT-Line and GT. That means you should pay close attention to trim if safety tech is a priority.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so lower trims leave you with less driver assistance than many shoppers may expect.

Should I buy a 2021 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model stands out as an absolute value performance/luxury car with multiple powertrain options and a BMW 3 Series rival feel for less.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,262, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $24,974 average.
• It gets a mild refresh with more power, especially from the base engine.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2021 is the smarter buy because it already delivers the Stinger formula at a lower average price. If you are willing to spend more for the refreshed model and its added power, the 2022 is the better path.
