What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Kia Stinger?

At 55.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been driven hard or modified. Pay close attention to body condition, tire wear, brake wear, and any signs that the car’s sporty character has translated into heavier-than-average use. Because visibility is limited by the design, it also makes sense to confirm that the driver-assistance features work properly if the car has them.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 2.0L trim comes with Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, a reversing camera, leather seating, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime head- and taillights, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, dual exhaust, a 7-inch touchscreen, a 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic temperature control. The Premium trim adds a power moonroof, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a trip computer with a larger 7-inch TFT screen, an electronic parking brake, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a 15-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system. The GT trim adds 19-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded grille, additional side accents, a rear diffuser, aluminum center-console accents, door-sill plates, pedals, a unique GT headrest inscription, and a performance-oriented flat-bottom steering wheel. The GT1 adds many Premium features plus electronically controlled suspension, auto-dimming side mirrors, and extra performance gauges. The GT2 adds a limited-slip differential, low-beam dynamic headlight assist, power smart trunk, upgraded premium Nappa leather seat trim, a 16-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a 12-way power front passenger seat, ventilated front seats, and more driver-assistance systems. The best-value trim is the Premium if you want the biggest jump in comfort and tech without moving all the way up the range.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. A 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque is available in the GT. Power goes through an 8-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels or available all-wheel drive. The GT1 and GT2 add an available continuously damping suspension, and the drive-mode system includes Custom, Eco, Sport, Comfort, and Smart settings.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes front and side-impact airbags, front and rear crumple zones, a child-seat anchoring system, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, and front and rear parking sensors. The GT2 adds blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, driver-attention warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist, while those features are optional on the rest of the lineup.
• Infotainment: The base 2.0L and GT trims get a 7-inch UVO infotainment system, while the Premium, GT1, and GT2 use a larger 8-inch UVO system. All trims come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the larger screen includes navigation. The GT2 also adds a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter turbo with AWD is estimated at 21 mpg city, 29 highway, and 24 combined, while the RWD version does just a bit better at 22 city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The twin-turbo V6 AWD is estimated at 19 mpg city, 25 highway, and 21 combined, and the RWD version is the same.

Which 2018 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?

The 2018 Kia Stinger is offered in 5 trim levels: 2.0L, Premium, GT, GT1, and GT2.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0L: This is the entry point, and it already gives you a strong equipment list with leather seating, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a reversing camera, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the Stinger’s style and core tech at the lowest price.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want the biggest comfort-and-tech upgrade without jumping into the pricier performance-focused models. You get the larger 8-inch touchscreen, Harman Kardon audio, a power moonroof, and a more upscale cabin experience.
• GT: Choose this if you want the more aggressive look and the stronger performance identity, with 19-inch wheels, exterior upgrades, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and GT-specific cabin details.
• GT1: This trim is for you if you want a more serious driving setup, because it adds electronically controlled suspension and extra performance gauges while also bringing back several Premium features.
• GT2: This is the top choice if you want the most complete package, with the limited-slip differential, ventilated front seats, upgraded leather, more driver-assistance features, and the most convenience equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Kia Stinger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 301 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,904, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Kia Stinger's resale value?

The current average of $19,629 sits slightly below last year's $19,950.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, which can make resale planning more important if you expect to sell later. If you buy at the right price now and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation when it’s time to move on. The current inventory and deal mix also suggest that shoppers are still comparing value closely, which can help well-kept examples stand out.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Kia Stinger safe?

The 2018 Kia Stinger earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include a full array of front and side-impact airbags, front and rear crumple zones, a child-seat anchoring system, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, and front and rear parking sensors. The GT2 adds blind-spot detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, driver-attention warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist, while those features are optional on the rest of the lineup.

The safety writeup also notes that the massive C-pillars and sloping roof create very poor rearward visibility, so you should pay close attention to whether the car has the driver-assistance features you want.

Should I buy a 2018 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Prices have softened 1.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s the debut year for Kia’s upscale performance car, which makes it especially distinctive.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive version of the Stinger’s original formula and you find a clean, well-priced example, the 2018 is a strong buy. If you’re more price-sensitive, keep shopping the market closely and focus on condition, history, and equipment rather than chasing the lowest sticker alone.
