How much does the 2021 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 13.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,758 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability, power, and adventurous character, and they also highlight the comfort it delivers for a rugged SUV. The Wrangler’s use-case is clear: you’re buying it for a distinctive, trail-ready SUV that stands apart from comfort-focused crossovers. The main trade-offs are poor ride quality and handling, along with limited cargo space and some interior quirks. Even so, 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that owners feel good about keeping, with praise for its off-road capability, power, and comfort, plus language that reflects confidence in its long-term appeal. The expert review also frames it as a rugged, durable SUV built around proven 4WD hardware and a straightforward mechanical character. On the ownership side, the Wrangler’s basic configuration and optional safety equipment mean you should pay close attention to how a used example was equipped and maintained. For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is ending up with a neglected or lightly equipped truck-like SUV that hasn’t been cared for as carefully as its reputation suggests.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear from off-road use, interior condition, and any signs of water intrusion or rough treatment. It also makes sense to compare trim equipment closely, since the Wrangler’s feature set changes a lot from one version to another.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is the bare-bones starting point with manual door locks, manual mirrors, cloth seats, and a 5-inch audio display, while the Sport S adds power windows, power locks, heated mirrors, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. The Sahara is the more street-oriented choice with dual-zone climate control, upgraded upholstery, side-steps, larger brakes, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The Rubicon is the off-road-focused trim with beefed-up suspension and running gear, plus two-piece fender flares.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Other options include a turbocharged four-cylinder, a diesel V6, a mild-hybrid V6, a plug-in hybrid, and a 6.4-liter V8 in the Rubicon 392.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are optional. Lane-departure warning is not available, and the base configuration is especially basic.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses a 5-inch screen, while the recommended 7-inch Uconnect system adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An 8.4-inch screen is also available, and the larger displays are described as crisp and easy to read.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas V6 with the manual transmission returns 17 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. The automatic version returns 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. The 4xe plug-in hybrid returns 40 MPGe and 20 mpg combined once the battery is depleted.

Which 2021 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most stripped-down version, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest entry point and plan to add equipment carefully. It has the fewest comfort features, but it still gives you the Wrangler experience.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the everyday conveniences you’ll notice immediately, including power windows, power locks, heated mirrors, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. It also opens the door to useful option packages like the Technology Group.
• Sahara: Choose this if you want a more street-friendly Wrangler with a nicer cabin and more standard convenience features. The dual-zone climate control, upgraded upholstery, larger brakes, and standard 7-inch touchscreen make it feel more polished.
• Rubicon: This is the trim to buy if off-road capability is your priority. It adds the most serious trail hardware, including beefed-up suspension and running gear, and it suits you best if you plan to use the Wrangler for difficult terrain.

The safety equipment is still mostly optional across the lineup, so check each used listing carefully for the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,758 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,806, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $26,806 sits slightly below last year's $30,890.

That price movement suggests the Wrangler has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help keep demand active in the near term. For a future seller, that means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than just model-year desirability. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and clean history should remain easier to move than neglected ones, especially because shoppers still value the Wrangler’s distinctive identity.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is lacking curtain airbags and has a basic safety setup in its base configuration.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are optional rather than standard. Lane-departure warning is not available. You do get a backup camera with dynamic guidelines, but the overall safety package is still relatively sparse compared with many rivals. For used buyers, that means you should pay close attention to the exact safety equipment on the listing you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and Hemi V8 to the four-door lineup.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $24,517, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $26,806 average.
• It adds a new diesel engine and emphasizes rugged off-road capability.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,266, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $26,806 average.
• It adds more open-air versatility and keeps the Wrangler’s adventurous formula fresh.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, inventory, and feature breadth, the 2021 is the best starting point. If you’re shopping on a tighter budget, the 2020 is the value play, while the 2022 makes sense if you want to spend more for the next model year.

• Cons: Lacking curtain airbags, Poor ride quality, Poor handling.

2021 Ford Bronco:
