How much does the 2021 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 12.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,961 listings available, which suggests solid inventory availability for shoppers comparing trims and powertrains.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability, power, and adventurous character, and they also like the manual features that make it feel more engaging. The Wrangler’s use-case appeal is strongest if you want something rugged and distinctive rather than a conventional car-based SUV. On the trade-off side, the expert review points to poor ride quality and poor handling, and owners also mention limited cargo space and some interior quirks. Even so, 39.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in the ways Wrangler shoppers care about most: it delivers the off-road capability and power people expect, and many owners describe it as a vehicle they enjoy living with over time. The expert review also reinforces that this model is built around durability-minded hardware and a rugged mission. Jeep’s maintenance-friendly ownership story is helped by the fact that the Wrangler is designed for hard use and frequent trail duty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a hard-driven example may show wear faster than a more ordinary SUV, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a Wrangler’s lifestyle appeal can mean more off-road use than the average SUV. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, tires, underbody, and interior condition, especially if the vehicle has been modified or used on trails. Focus on how well the truck has been maintained and whether its equipment matches the way you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is the bare-bones starting point with manual door locks, manual side mirrors, cloth seats, black plastic fenders and bumpers, a 5-inch audio display, and USB/aux inputs. The Sport S adds power windows and locks, power heated side mirrors, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry, while also opening up more options. The Sahara is the more street-oriented choice with dual-zone climate control, upgraded premium cloth upholstery, side-steps, larger brakes, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The Rubicon is the most trail-focused, with beefed-up suspension and running gear, two-piece fender flares, and the hardware needed for difficult off-roading.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Other options include a mild-hybrid version of the V6, a 270-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 with 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, a plug-in hybrid with 275 hp and up to 22 miles of electric range, and a 6.4-liter V8 with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are optional. There is no available lane-departure warning feature. A backup camera with dynamic guidelines is included, and the live tire-pressure monitoring system can be useful when you air down for off-roading.
• Infotainment: The Sport uses a basic 5-inch screen. The 7-inch Uconnect screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is optional on the Sport S and standard on other trims, and the 8.4-inch Uconnect screen is also available. Jeep also uses intuitive steering-wheel radio controls.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4xe returns 40 MPGe and 20 mpg combined once the battery is depleted. The EcoDiesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The gas turbo four-cylinder returns 21 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. The automatic V6 returns 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the manual V6 returns 17 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the least expensive path into the Wrangler, but it is very stripped down, so you should only choose it if you want the most basic Wrangler experience and plan to add options carefully.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the everyday conveniences you’re most likely to miss, including power windows and locks, power heated mirrors, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry.
• Sahara: This is the better pick if you want a more polished, street-friendly Wrangler with dual-zone climate control, upgraded upholstery, side-steps, larger brakes, and a larger touchscreen.
• Rubicon: This is the trim to buy if off-road capability is your priority, since it brings the most serious trail hardware and the most capable setup in the lineup.

Safety-package features remain optional on the Wrangler, and lane-departure warning is not available.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 39.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,961 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,572, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $27,572 sits slightly below last year's $31,490.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the vehicle is equipped and maintained. Wranglers with desirable powertrains, strong condition, and clean history should hold up better than rougher examples. Because the model has broad enthusiast appeal, a well-kept one can still attract buyers even after market prices move around. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is not especially strong on safety in its base configuration.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are optional rather than standard. There is no available lane-departure warning feature, and the review also notes that the Wrangler lacks curtain airbags. The backup camera with dynamic guidelines is helpful, but the overall safety package is still basic compared with many mainstream SUVs.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 39.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and Hemi V8 options to the four-door lineup.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $25,142, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $27,572 average.
• It adds a diesel option that broadens the powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,938, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $27,572 average.
• It adds more open-air versatility and keeps the Wrangler’s retro off-road formula fresh.

The bottom line: If you want the broadest mix of powertrains and the strongest current-market value, the 2021 is the best primary choice. If your budget is tighter, the 2020 is the better price-sensitive path, while the 2022 makes sense if you want to spend more for the newer model-year experience.
