How much does the 2021 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 12.95% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,944 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability, power, and adventurous character, and they also like the manual features that make it feel more engaging. The Wrangler’s identity and rugged appeal come through clearly, especially if you want something that feels different from a typical car-based SUV.

The trade-offs are just as clear: poor ride quality and poor handling are part of the package, and the base setup is sparse. It fits you best if you value capability and personality over everyday polish.

The market still shows healthy interest, with 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people count on for its off-road ability, power, and overall durability-minded appeal. The expert review also emphasizes that the Wrangler keeps evolving while staying true to its rugged formula, which supports the sense that it is built for long-term use.

The expert review also notes that the Wrangler’s powertrain lineup includes options that broaden its usefulness, including a plug-in hybrid variant and a V8. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Wrangler’s rugged character can come with compromises in comfort and day-to-day refinement.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the Jeep has been used off-road. Pay close attention to signs of hard use, interior wear, and whether the equipment level matches the way you plan to drive it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is the bare-bones starting point with manual door locks, black plastic fenders and bumpers, cloth seats, manual side mirrors, a 5-inch audio display, and USB and auxiliary inputs. The Sport S adds power windows and locks, power heated side mirrors, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, and access to useful options like heated seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, and the Technology Group. The Sahara is the more street-oriented choice with dual-zone climate control, upgraded premium cloth upholstery, larger brakes, and a 7-inch touchscreen, while the High Altitude adds leather seating, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen, gloss black 20-inch wheels, and body-color bumpers. The Rubicon is the off-road-focused trim with beefed-up suspension and running gear, two-piece fender flares, and many of the power options and comfort features of the Sahara.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Other options include a mild-hybrid version of that V6, a 270-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 with 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid with 275 hp and up to 22 miles of electric range, and the Rubicon 392 with a 6.4-liter V8 making 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are all optional. There is no available lane-departure warning feature, and the base configuration is especially basic.
• Infotainment: The Sport uses a 5-inch screen, while the 7-inch Uconnect system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is optional on the Sport S and standard on other trims. You can also opt for the 8.4-inch Uconnect screen, which brings a sharper interface and easier-to-read layouts.
• Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler 4xe returns 40 MPGe and 20 mpg combined once the battery is depleted. The EcoDiesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The gas 2.0-liter turbo returns 21 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. The automatic V6 returns 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the manual V6 returns 17 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. The Rubicon 392 returns 13 mpg city, 17 mpg highway, and 14 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most stripped-down version, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest entry point and plan to add equipment later.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim because it adds the everyday conveniences most shoppers will want, and it opens the door to useful packages like the Technology Group and Cold Weather Package.
• Sahara: Choose this if you want a more street-friendly Wrangler with more comfort and convenience features already built in.
• Rubicon: This is the one to get if off-road capability is your priority, since it brings the most trail-focused hardware.

The safety package remains mostly optional across the lineup, and the base configuration is especially sparse.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,944 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.95% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,120, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $27,120 sits slightly below last year's $31,153.

That price movement suggests the Wrangler has already given back some value, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.

Demand should remain supported by the Wrangler’s strong identity, broad appeal, and loyal owner base. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Wrangler is rated Good by IIHS, but its safety equipment is limited in the base configuration.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are all optional. There is no available lane-departure warning feature, and the base setup is especially basic.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a broad powertrain lineup, including a plug-in hybrid and a V8, while keeping the Wrangler’s rugged identity.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $24,798, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $27,120 average.
• It adds a new diesel engine and broadens the Wrangler’s powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,553, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $27,120 average.
• It adds open-air versatility with removable doors and a fold-down windshield.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, inventory, and feature breadth, the 2021 is the best starting point. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2020 can save you money while still delivering the Wrangler’s core appeal.
