How much does the 2018 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 10.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,943 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price and condition.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Jeep Wrangler earns 4.5/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from experts. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its pep, handling, and iconic design, and many also like the drivability improvements and features such as remote start. The overview points to a vehicle that stays true to its off-road identity while improving performance, practicality, and technology, so it fits you best if you want a distinctive SUV with serious character rather than a conventional daily driver. Good and great deals account for 31.9% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights the Wrangler’s pep, handling, and overall drivability, and some owners specifically mention features they appreciate over time, such as remote start. The expert review also emphasizes that the latest model’s performance, practicality, and technology were thoroughly improved, which supports the idea that this generation is more livable than older Wranglers. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot, especially because this model’s rugged design can come with more wear and more compromises than a mainstream SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

At 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of body condition, panel fit, and signs of prior repair. Because this model is often used hard and modified, you’ll want to focus on how well the vehicle has been maintained and whether any damage or wear affects the way it drives. Pay close attention to the condition of the interior and exterior, since the Wrangler’s appeal depends heavily on whether it still feels tight and well cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sahara adds step rails, silver-painted exterior accents, and 18-inch wheels, while the base Sport and top Rubicon use knobbier tires on smaller 17-inch rims. The Sahara also brings a more upscale cabin feel, but the source notes that the base Sport is more basic, so you should expect fewer comfort and appearance features there.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 delivers 285 horsepower, and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with eTorque is available with 270 horsepower and the best fuel economy in the lineup. The V6 comes with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic, while the four-cylinder is paired with the automatic.
• Safety package: No driver assists are available except a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. The source also notes that safety electronics are not really the issue, and that structural protection is the bigger concern.
• Infotainment: Sport models get a five-inch touchscreen, while Sport S and Sahara upgrade to a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. The available 8.4-inch system adds navigation with live traffic, a seven-inch gauge display, 4G WiFi, an onboard owner’s manual, and seven USB ports.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway with the manual, while the automatic gains 1 mpg in city driving. The available turbocharged four-cylinder is rated at 22 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

Which 2018 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Wrangler experience at the lowest starting price and plan to keep things simple. You give up some comfort and tech, but you still get the core Wrangler character.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim if you want a more usable daily driver, because it adds the seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. It’s the trim that most clearly improves everyday livability without pushing you into the highest price tiers.
• Sahara: This is the trim to choose if you want a more polished street-oriented Wrangler, with step rails, silver exterior accents, and a more upscale interior feel. It also pairs with the available turbocharged engine and the more advanced Selec-Trac system when equipped that way.
• Rubicon: This is the one to buy if off-road capability is your priority, since it gets the beefier Rock-Trac setup, locking front and rear Dana 44 axles, and an electronically disconnecting front sway bar. It’s the most specialized choice in the lineup.

No matter which trim you choose, the safety content notes that no driver assists are available beyond a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,943 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,921, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $20,921 sits slightly below last year's $23,414.

That drop tells you the market has already moved in buyers’ favor, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the Wrangler’s strong brand appeal and loyal following help support demand, especially for well-kept examples. If you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in good condition, you should still have a relatively broad audience when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Wrangler earns a three-star rating for driver and a two-star rating for passenger in the partial frontal crash test cited by NHTSA, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated a 2017 Wrangler Unlimited as Good in small and moderate overlap front crash tests but Marginal in side-impact tests.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content also notes that the Wrangler is the only new car on sale without head curtain airbags, which is a major structural shortcoming. Standard driver-assistance equipment is limited to a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. For used buyers, that means you should weigh the Wrangler’s capability and personality against its weaker crash protection and limited safety tech.

Should I buy a 2018 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The latest model’s performance, practicality, and technology were thoroughly improved.

The bottom line: The 2018 is the right path if you want the rebooted Wrangler with stronger everyday usability and a market that has softened enough to create shopping leverage. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still find value in older examples, but the 2018 gives you the updated design and improved tech that make this generation more appealing overall.
