Used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L for Sale nearAurora, IL

How much does the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L cost?

Prices have softened 12.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,897 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its comfortable ride, space, and high-tech features, and they also call out handling and performance in snow. That lines up well with the vehicle’s role as a family-focused three-row SUV that still brings Jeep character and a more upscale feel.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the fact that advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the Grand Cherokee L is a strong fit if you want three-row practicality with refinement and capability rather than a basic people mover.

Good and great deals account for 32.9% of listings, which is a healthy sign for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV that many owners trust for comfortable daily use, family duty, and high-tech convenience.

The review summary also emphasizes that drivers value its space, ride comfort, and performance in snow, which supports the idea that it can be a trouble-free fit for long-term ownership when maintained well. Jeep’s customer care program adds three free oil changes and tire rotations within the first 36 months, plus roadside assistance during the powertrain warranty period.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is buying a neglected example with missing features or uneven maintenance history, so condition and records matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples or vehicles with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, feature operation, and signs of hard use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Grand Cherokee L is offered in Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve specification. The cabin and equipment improve as you move up, but some interior materials and fittings can still fall short of the price at the top end.
• Powertrain: Every model uses a standard 3.6-liter V6 with 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive or available 4WD systems. A 5.7-liter V8 is optional on Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve trims, but it raises cost and lowers fuel economy.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assist combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. Intersection Collision Assist is standard on Summit models, and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist is available. Advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 is offered with 8.4-inch or 10.1-inch touchscreens, and it includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa compatibility, satellite radio, connected services, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard V6 is rated at 21 mpg in combined driving, while the optional V8 drops to 17 mpg combined. The test vehicle averaged 17.8 mpg on the review loop.

Which 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is offered in 6 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, but it is best for shoppers who want the Grand Cherokee L’s space and styling at the lowest starting price. You still get the core three-row layout and standard V6, but the lower trims are where the equipment gap is most noticeable.
• Altitude: This trim adds a more distinctive look while staying closer to the lower end of the lineup. It makes sense if you want a little more style without jumping too far in price.
• Limited: This is the sweet spot and the trim the review team recommends. It balances style, equipment, and value better than the pricier versions, making it the best-value choice for most used buyers.
• Overland: This trim is the better pick if you want more capability and are interested in the optional V8. It also sits in the range where Jeep’s more rugged character becomes more relevant.
• Summit: This trim leans into luxury and technology, but the value equation starts to weaken at this level. It is best if you want a more upscale cabin and are willing to pay for it.
• Summit Reserve: This is the top-end choice for buyers who want the most premium presentation and equipment. It is the least value-focused trim in the lineup.

Advanced safety features are not standard, so check carefully for the driver-assistance equipment you want on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,897 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,496, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L's resale value?

The current average of $25,496 sits slightly below last year's $29,303.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than neglected ones, especially because the model has strong owner satisfaction and broad family appeal. If you buy smart now, you can improve your odds of getting a stronger return later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L safe?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L does not have crash-test ratings cited here.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Active Driving Assist is the main driver-assistance suite, and it combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. Intersection Collision Assist is standard on Summit models, and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist is available.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should confirm exactly which systems are fitted on the used example you’re considering. The expert review also notes that Active Driving Assist works well in some situations but can feel artificial and overly responsive at times.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s the first Grand Cherokee L year, bringing Jeep’s long-awaited three-row layout to the lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,342, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,496 average.
• It adds a more polished luxury feel and a more upscale cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the lower average price and strong inventory signals, the 2021 is the better value play. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-feeling luxury presentation, the 2022 is the better alternative.
