Summary
With 793 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,082.00, 35.2% of 2021 Honda Ridgelines for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Honda Ridgeline 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Honda Ridgeline stands out by bringing a hefty dose of truck personality to a midsize crew cab pickup that has always been appealing. Honda’s styling, packaging, and functionality changes give it a more traditional truck look, which helps it attract buyers who want a pickup that feels more conventional without losing the Ridgeline’s practical appeal.
It also has several strengths that make it easy to like. The 2021 Ridgeline is praised for its stylish design, powerful engine, and great handling, and owners often appreciate its comfort, ride quality, spacious interior, and innovative truck bed and cargo space. Those qualities make it especially appealing for buyers who want a pickup that is pleasant to drive every day as well as useful for hauling.
There are tradeoffs, though. The 2021 Honda Ridgeline does not offer alternate bed or cab configurations, and its towing and payload capacities are limited. Some owners also noted the absence of specific safety features such as blind spot indicators and lane change warnings.

This is a great design for someone who needs a truck but not a 1/2 ton pickup. I am very happy with the way it drives and the technology that is included. I haven’t towed anything with it yet but I am confident that it will do what I need. I bought the RTL model because it had leather interior and a Sirius radio. II guess the most direct comparison will be the Hyundai Santa Cruz or the Ford Marverick. However it is more capable in many woes over those two models.

Love the features of this truck. Drives nice and comfortable. My first truck and it was a simple process to find it through CarGurus!

2021 Ridgeline RTL-E - Loaded with great features and very comfortable to drive. Great visibility. Lots of cargo space. Drives like a big car. Great for winter driving with AWD. This is my second Ridgeline. Drove a 2013 for 10 years. Loved it. Loving this one too. Perfect for someone who wants a truck but doesnt need the size of something like a F250.

I decided on the Honda Ridgeline. I have to say, in terms of refinement, sophistication, features, driveability, interior space, etc., Honda is light years ahead of the competition [Tacoma, Ranger and Canyon/Colorado]. The Tacoma and Ranger were pretty similar, but I think Ford upped their game lately – more so than Toyota. The GMC/Chev trucks are bottom of the barrel, not worth considering. I would concede that – if someone is looking first and foremost for serious off-roading features/capability, trucks along the lines of the Tacoma will top of their list. However, for me -- valuing year round city/highway driveability over off-roading adventures -- the Ridgeline makes a lot of sense.

If you find a listing below $27,209.69, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline a good car?
Yes — owners rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 7.00/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise the Ridgeline’s comfort, ride quality, spacious interior, and innovative truck bed and cargo space. The smooth driving experience also comes through clearly, along with the practical everyday usability that makes it appealing if you want a pickup that feels easy to live with.
The main trade-offs are limited towing and payload capacity, plus the lack of alternate bed or cab configurations. That lines up with the Ridgeline’s use case as a truck for daily driving, hauling, and commuting rather than maximum work-duty flexibility.
With 29.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on comfort, ride quality, and features that hold up well over time. The truck’s smooth, refined driving character also supports the sense that it is built for long-term use rather than short-term novelty.
The expert drive notes reinforce that impression by describing the Ridgeline as smooth and refined, with a powertrain and chassis setup that feels composed in everyday use. It also highlights that Honda includes the first scheduled maintenance visit on the house.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about whether the truck’s capability limits fit your needs.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then focus on condition, because the Ridgeline’s appeal depends heavily on how well its practical features have been maintained. A careful inspection should also confirm that the truck’s everyday-use equipment works as expected, especially if you plan to rely on it for commuting and hauling.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Sport trim is the only one with cloth seats, and it comes only in black with a subtle pattern for the inserts. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment, while the base setup is still well equipped.
- Powertrain: Every Ridgeline uses a 280-horsepower V6 with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. It is smooth and refined, but it is not built for rock-crawling.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centering assistance. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is standard for all but the Ridgeline Sport.
- Infotainment: Every model gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, text messaging, basic HondaLink services, and USB charging ports. Higher trims add SiriusXM, HD Radio, navigation, voice recognition, traffic information, a premium sound system, and wireless smartphone charging.
- Fuel efficiency: No mpg figure is stated in the available data.
Which 2021 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, RTL, RTL-E, and Black Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, but it still gets the core Ridgeline formula: the V6, standard AWD, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Honda Sensing. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and can live without the extra convenience and luxury features.
- RTL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without moving too far up the price ladder. It is the trim to target if you want a more polished daily driver.
- RTL-E: This trim is for you if you want a richer feature set, including more of the tech and premium equipment that make the Ridgeline feel more upscale.
- Black Edition: This is the top trim for buyers who want the most distinctive appearance and the fullest equipment set mentioned in the data.
Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is standard for all but the Ridgeline Sport.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 806 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.37% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 79.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,209.69, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $28,000 sits slightly below last year's $29,279.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to stay realistic on asking price. The Ridgeline’s value story is still supported by its strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal, which can help keep demand steady.
Because it is a truck that many buyers choose for comfort and everyday usefulness, well-kept examples should continue to attract interest. Strong condition, clean history, and desirable equipment will matter most if you want to protect resale value later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline safe?
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centering assistance. The truck also includes a multi-angle reversing camera, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is standard on all but the Sport trim.
The expert review also notes a caveat: the adaptive cruise control can react too aggressively in some traffic situations, which means you should stay attentive even with driver-assistance features engaged.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.37% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds a more truck-like look while keeping the Ridgeline’s everyday practicality.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $25,870, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $28,000 average.
- It blends truck usefulness with comfort and easy driving manners.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $29,697, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $28,000 average.
- It carries over the 2021 formula with comfort, quiet, and useful features.
The bottom line: The 2021 is the best all-around choice if you want the updated look and the strongest mix of comfort, practicality, and market availability. If price is your top priority, the 2020 is the better value play; if you want the newer-year alternative without expecting major changes, the 2022 is a reasonable step up only if the price premium is small.
