CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Honda Ridgeline
overall

Summary
With 1,981 currently listed for sale and an average price of $29,546.00, 33.0% of 2022 Honda Ridgelines for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Honda Ridgeline 4.65 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
86.6% of 2022 Ridgeline models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
Honda’s lone pickup truck remains a sensible choice, and the 2022 Honda Ridgeline stands out by approaching the midsize truck formula differently. Rather than using traditional truck construction, it uses the same unibody construction that gives crossover SUVs greater refinement than traditional models, which helps explain its comfort and better on-road handling. That different perspective makes it feel less like a conventional pickup and more like a truck built for buyers who care about everyday livability.
For 2022, the Ridgeline carries over essentially unchanged after its 2021 facelift, so its appeal is rooted in the strengths that already define it. The ride quality is a major highlight, along with a comfortable and quiet cabin. Owners also praise its spacious interior, solid value compared to other midsized trucks, and useful features like the in-bed trunk and dual-function tailgate. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the transmission can be irritating, the technology is outdated, and some reviewers note a steep price, lower ground clearance for off-road use, and touch screen responsiveness issues.

This was a great buy. I had a pre-purchase inspection done by my mechanic and he said, "I don't often say this, but I could not find one thing wrong with this vehicle. it's a great truck!" It has all the features I was looking for and at the right price.

Very good value, and as an owner of the older 2013 version of the RTL , this included very nice additions including warnings and dashboard abilities to select personal choices.

This is my third Ridgeline. 2018, 2019 and now a 2023. Best mix of truck and suv. Great ride, solid fuel economy. Enough truck for me. I don’t think I will ever own anything else.

We have had “real trucks” the past decade (2 raptors and a tundra Trd pro)… we actually traded in a 2018 raptor on the ridgeline black edition. So far it’s been great. The trunk inside the bed is genius. It’s obviously not a raptor and it’s not trying to be but for the average customer it’s more than enough truck. It drives comfortable and gas mileage has been awesome compared to what we were used to. On the highway we had to drive super conservative to get 18 mpg. Around town I’m getting 22 and on the highway 25.

Yes — the 4.65/5 owner rating points to strong satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.67/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.
Owners repeatedly praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, and useful features like the in-bed trunk and dual-function tailgate. They also call out solid value compared with other midsized trucks, along with a quiet cabin and smooth everyday drivability.
The trade-offs are the irritating transmission and outdated technology, which can make the truck feel less polished than its strengths suggest. That matters most if you want a pickup that feels modern in its controls and response.
For you, the Ridgeline makes the most sense if you want a midsize truck that prioritizes daily livability over traditional truck toughness. It also lines up well if comfort and utility matter more than maximum capability.
With 29.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline reliable?
Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a truck you can count on for comfort, solid value, and trouble-free everyday use. That kind of praise usually reflects a vehicle that fits well into long-term ownership rather than one that feels fragile or high-maintenance.
The expert evaluation reinforces that dependable character by emphasizing the Ridgeline’s refined, car-like construction, comfortable ride, and quiet cabin. It also notes Honda’s standard warranty coverage, which adds some ownership reassurance.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about living with its compromises, especially the transmission behavior and limited capability.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Ridgeline?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full inspection. Pay close attention to how the truck drives, how the cabin and tech systems behave, and whether the vehicle shows signs of hard use. Condition matters especially here because the Ridgeline’s value depends heavily on comfort, refinement, and everyday usability.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sport trim leaves out blind spot monitoring and SiriusXM, while the RTL-E and Black Edition add automatic high beams. The higher trims also bring more upscale equipment, so base-trim shoppers should be sure the missing convenience and safety features won’t bother them.
- Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and standard AWD. The truck is smooth once underway, but the transmission can be slow to respond.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
- Infotainment: The Ridgeline uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. Wireless smartphone integration and OTA capability are not mentioned.
- Fuel efficiency: The Ridgeline is rated at 21 mpg combined, 18 mpg city, and 24 mpg highway.
Which 2022 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?
The 2022 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, RTL, RTL-E, Black Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, but it’s also the trim where you give up blind spot monitoring and SiriusXM. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the Ridgeline, but you should be comfortable with the missing convenience and safety content.
- RTL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more equipment without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It’s the trim to focus on if you want a more complete daily-driver setup without paying for the most expensive versions.
- RTL-E: This trim adds more premium content and includes automatic high beams, making it a stronger fit if you want a better-equipped Ridgeline with more convenience features.
- Black Edition: This is the most upscale version, with the richest equipment mix and the most distinctive appearance. It suits you best if you want the most fully loaded Ridgeline and are willing to pay for it.
Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim level, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.

If you find a listing below $29,715.48, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $29,697 sits slightly below last year's $32,420.
That price movement suggests the Ridgeline has softened enough to create a more approachable entry point for buyers today. For future sellers, that can mean less immediate upside if you buy at the wrong price, but it also helps support demand from shoppers who want a well-equipped truck without paying new-truck money.
The model’s strong owner satisfaction should help keep interest steady over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline safe?
The Ridgeline received top “Good” scores in most Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but received a lower “Average” score in the passenger-side small overlap frontal test. The IIHS gave the Ridgeline a top “Superior” rating for front-crash prevention tech, but a “Marginal” headlight rating and an “Average” rating for LATCH child seat anchor ease of use. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave Honda’s truck a five-star overall safety rating, with five stars in frontal and side crash tests, and four stars in rollover crash testing.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
The main caveat is the weaker passenger-side small overlap frontal result, along with the marginal headlight rating. If safety is a top priority, those are the details you should pay closest attention to when comparing individual used examples.
Should I buy a 2022 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.40% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It carries over the 2021 facelift with the same comfort-focused, unibody-based formula.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $28,000, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,697 average.
- It adds a more traditional truck look and feel.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $32,188, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,697 average.
- It emphasizes practicality and modern safety features for daily use.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, comfort, and available inventory, the 2022 is the smart default. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is the cheaper route; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2023 is the next step up.
