CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Honda Ridgeline
overall

Summary
With 1,982 currently listed for sale and an average price of $29,579, 33.4% of 2022 Honda Ridgelines for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Honda Ridgeline 4.65 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
85.7% of 2022 Ridgeline models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Honda Ridgeline stands out because it approaches pickup-truck duty with a crossover-like mindset. Honda’s lone pickup truck uses the same unibody construction that gives crossover SUVs greater refinement than traditional models, and the result is increased comfort and better on-road handling than most pickups. That makes it a sensible choice for buyers who want truck utility without giving up a smooth, quiet driving experience.
It also helps that the 2022 Ridgeline carries over essentially unchanged after its 2021 facelift, so its appeal is rooted in a proven formula rather than a major redesign. The truck’s strengths are easy to feel in everyday use: great ride quality, a comfortable cabin, and a quiet interior. At the same time, it is not perfect, with an irritating transmission and outdated technology among its drawbacks.
Owners also tend to praise the Ridgeline’s spacious interior and useful features such as the in-bed trunk and dual-function tailgate. Those traits reinforce its practical appeal, even if some shoppers may find the price steep and the ground clearance less suited to off-road use.

This was a great buy. I had a pre-purchase inspection done by my mechanic and he said, "I don't often say this, but I could not find one thing wrong with this vehicle. it's a great truck!" It has all the features I was looking for and at the right price.

Very good value, and as an owner of the older 2013 version of the RTL , this included very nice additions including warnings and dashboard abilities to select personal choices.

This is my third Ridgeline. 2018, 2019 and now a 2023. Best mix of truck and suv. Great ride, solid fuel economy. Enough truck for me. I don’t think I will ever own anything else.

We have had “real trucks” the past decade (2 raptors and a tundra Trd pro)… we actually traded in a 2018 raptor on the ridgeline black edition. So far it’s been great. The trunk inside the bed is genius. It’s obviously not a raptor and it’s not trying to be but for the average customer it’s more than enough truck. It drives comfortable and gas mileage has been awesome compared to what we were used to. On the highway we had to drive super conservative to get 18 mpg. Around town I’m getting 22 and on the highway 25.

Yes — the 2022 Honda Ridgeline earns a 4.65/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its comfort, spacious interior, smooth ride, quiet cabin, and useful features like the in-bed trunk and dual-function tailgate. The truck is also viewed as a solid value relative to other midsized trucks, even if some shoppers note the steep price and touch screen responsiveness issues.
That lines up with the Ridgeline’s use case as a truck for you if you want utility without giving up a refined daily driving experience. The main trade-offs are the irritating transmission and outdated technology.
Good and great deals account for 32.4% of listings, so there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline reliable?
Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for comfort and practical features that tend to hold up well over time. The truck’s smooth, everyday usability and familiar Honda feel reinforce that long-term confidence.
Honda’s truck also comes across as durable in the way it delivers its core strengths: a comfortable ride, quiet cabin, and useful packaging that owners can count on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about living with its dated tech and transmission behavior.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Ridgeline?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has seen heavy family, towing, or work use. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the truck’s practical features still operate as intended.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sport trim leaves out some equipment that appears on higher trims, while the RTL-E and Black Edition add more convenience and luxury features. If you want the best balance of equipment and value, the midlevel trims are the ones to compare most closely.
- Powertrain: The Ridgeline uses a 3.5-liter V6 with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. It delivers 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, but the transmission can feel slow to respond.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
- Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. SiriusXM is available on all but the base Sport trim, and navigation is included on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
- Fuel efficiency: All models are rated at 21 mpg combined, 18 mpg city, and 24 mpg highway.
Which 2022 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?
The 2022 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, RTL, RTL-E, and Black Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, but it is the most stripped-down version of the Ridgeline. It still gives you the core truck formula, standard all-wheel drive, and the full Honda Sensing safety suite, but it leaves out some convenience and tech features found higher up the range.
- RTL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the top of the lineup. It is the trim to focus on if you want a more complete daily-driver experience.
- RTL-E: This trim adds more premium equipment, including navigation and automatic high beams, and it is a strong choice if you want a better-equipped Ridgeline without going all the way to the Black Edition.
- Black Edition: This is the most upscale version, with the most distinctive appearance and the richest feature set. It suits you best if you want the most fully equipped Ridgeline and are willing to pay for it.
Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Ridgeline?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.
- Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,010 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.24% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 86.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $29,550, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $29,657 sits slightly below last year's $32,322.
That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face some pricing pressure if the trend continues. If you buy well now, you may be starting from a more realistic entry point than owners did a year ago.
The Ridgeline’s practical appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline safe?
The Ridgeline received top “Good” scores in most Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but received a lower “Average” score in the passenger-side small overlap frontal test. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave Honda’s truck a five-star overall safety rating, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests, and four-star ratings in rollover crash testing.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
The main caveat is the IIHS passenger-side small overlap result, along with the lack of a 360-degree camera system.
Should I buy a 2022 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.24% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It carries over essentially unchanged after the 2021 facelift, preserving its proven formula.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,840, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,657 average.
- It emphasizes truck-like styling while keeping the Ridgeline’s everyday usability.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $31,954, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,657 average.
- It leans harder into everyday practicality and safety.
The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, inventory, and proven appeal, the 2022 is the primary target. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the value play; if you want to spend more for a newer alternative, the 2023 is the next step up.
