CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Honda Ridgeline
overall

Summary
With 1,981 currently listed for sale and an average price of $29,546.00, 33.0% of 2022 Honda Ridgelines for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Honda Ridgeline 4.65 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
86.6% of 2022 Ridgeline models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
Honda’s lone pickup truck remains a sensible choice, and the 2022 Honda Ridgeline stands out by approaching the midsize truck formula differently. Rather than using traditional truck construction, it uses the same unibody construction that gives crossover SUVs greater refinement than traditional models, which helps explain its comfort and better on-road handling. That different perspective makes it feel less like a conventional pickup and more like a truck built for buyers who care about everyday livability.
For 2022, the Ridgeline carries over essentially unchanged after its 2021 facelift, so its appeal is rooted in the strengths that already define it. The ride quality is a major highlight, along with a comfortable and quiet cabin. Owners also praise its spacious interior, solid value compared to other midsized trucks, and useful features like the in-bed trunk and dual-function tailgate. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the transmission can be irritating, the technology is outdated, and some reviewers note a steep price, lower ground clearance for off-road use, and touch screen responsiveness issues.

This was a great buy. I had a pre-purchase inspection done by my mechanic and he said, "I don't often say this, but I could not find one thing wrong with this vehicle. it's a great truck!" It has all the features I was looking for and at the right price.

Very good value, and as an owner of the older 2013 version of the RTL , this included very nice additions including warnings and dashboard abilities to select personal choices.

This is my third Ridgeline. 2018, 2019 and now a 2023. Best mix of truck and suv. Great ride, solid fuel economy. Enough truck for me. I don’t think I will ever own anything else.

We have had “real trucks” the past decade (2 raptors and a tundra Trd pro)… we actually traded in a 2018 raptor on the ridgeline black edition. So far it’s been great. The trunk inside the bed is genius. It’s obviously not a raptor and it’s not trying to be but for the average customer it’s more than enough truck. It drives comfortable and gas mileage has been awesome compared to what we were used to. On the highway we had to drive super conservative to get 18 mpg. Around town I’m getting 22 and on the highway 25.

Owners repeatedly praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, and useful features like the in-bed trunk and dual-function tailgate. They also tend to value the Ridgeline’s solid value compared with other midsized trucks and its quiet, easy-to-live-with cabin.
The trade-offs are the irritating transmission and outdated technology. In practical terms, that means the Ridgeline fits you best if you want a truck that behaves more like a refined daily driver than a rugged workhorse.
With 33.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline reliable?
Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Reviews also point to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with comfort and usefulness showing up again and again in owner feedback.
The truck’s naturally aspirated V6 and standard all-wheel drive add to the sense that it’s built for steady, everyday use. Honda’s three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty and five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty also help support confidence in long-term ownership.
For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright fragility and more about living with age-related wear, especially if the truck has seen heavy use or neglected maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Ridgeline?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you want to confirm that the transmission, electronics, and cabin features are all working as expected. Focus on overall condition, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on comfort, refinement, and everyday usability.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sport trim leaves out blind spot monitoring and SiriusXM satellite radio, while higher trims add more convenience and safety equipment.
- Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and standard all-wheel drive.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
- Infotainment: The standard setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth; navigation is reserved for higher trims.
- Fuel efficiency: All models are rated at 21 mpg combined, 18 mpg city, and 24 mpg highway.
Which 2022 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?
The 2022 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, RTL, RTL-E, Black Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, but it’s also the most stripped-down version, so it makes the most sense if you want the Ridgeline’s core ride quality and utility at the lowest price.
- RTL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
- RTL-E: Choose this if you want more convenience and tech, including navigation and automatic high beams.
- Black Edition: This is the most premium-looking version, with the most fully equipped cabin and the strongest visual presence.
The safety package starts with Honda Sensing on every trim, while blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the Sport and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Ridgeline?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,014 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.86% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 86.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $29,500.01, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $29,491 sits slightly below last year's $32,357.
That softer pricing can work in your favor if you’re buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices continue to ease. The Ridgeline’s value proposition is still supported by its strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal, which can help keep demand steady.
If you maintain it well and keep mileage and condition in check, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline safe?
The Ridgeline received top “Good” scores in most Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but received a lower “Average” score in the passenger-side small overlap frontal test. The IIHS also gave it a top “Superior” rating for front-crash prevention tech, but a “Marginal” headlight rating and an “Average” rating for LATCH child seat anchor ease of use. It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
The main caveat is the weaker passenger-side small overlap result, plus the missing 360-degree camera system, which would be useful in a truck this size.
Should I buy a 2022 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.86% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It carries over the 2021 facelift with the same comfort-focused, unibody approach.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,990, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,491 average.
- It adds a more traditional truck look while keeping the Ridgeline’s practical appeal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $32,010, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,491 average.
- It emphasizes practicality and modern safety features for buyers who want a daily-driver truck.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and broad inventory, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money while preserving much of the same core appeal.
