CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Ford Bronco
overall

Summary
With 2,072 currently listed for sale and an average price of $36,812, 33.3% of 2021 Ford Broncos for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Ford Bronco 4.47 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
89.8% of 2021 Bronco models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Ford Bronco stands out as a purpose-built off-roader that returns to showrooms with a clear focus on capability. It offers two available powertrains, a choice of manual or automatic transmissions, standard four-wheel drive, clever engineering, and bold styling. That combination gives it a distinctive identity for buyers who want a vehicle that is designed to tackle rough terrain first and still bring some everyday usability along with it.
Its strengths are easy to see in the driving experience and overall design. The Bronco is praised for excellent off-road capability, stylish design, and great ride quality, while owners also appreciate its design, smooth ride, versatility, powerful performance, and advanced tech features. At the same time, it is not without compromises: the fuel economy is poor, it can be noisy, and the stereo is lacking. Some owners also mention wind noise and roof-fit issues with the soft tops, which reinforces that this is a rugged, adventure-focused vehicle rather than a quiet comfort-first SUV.

Love it! Came with the lux package and the heated steering wheel is coming in handy this time of the year. The only thing thats disappointing is the charging pad sucks and I wish it had the auxillary switches for future mods.

How much does the 2021 Ford Bronco cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $36,788 |
| Year-Round Low | $36,788 |
| Year-Round High | $40,577 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $40,573 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.33% |
Prices have softened 9.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,076 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco a good car?
Generally — the 2021 Ford Bronco earns a 4.47/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.
You’ll see recurring praise for its design, smooth ride, versatility, powerful performance, and advanced tech features. The Bronco’s purpose-built off-road focus also fits buyers who want a rugged SUV with real capability and everyday usability.
The trade-offs are clear too: the expert review points to a soft focus on comfort, and owners note noise and roof-fit issues with the soft tops. That makes it a better fit if you value character and capability over quiet-road refinement.
Good and great deals account for 34.1% of listings, so you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco reliable?
Owners rate it 4.47/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle people feel good about living with over time, with repeated praise for versatility and a fun, high-performing character. That kind of response suggests you’re looking at a Bronco that many buyers feel confident counting on for regular use and adventure duty.
The expert drive notes also emphasize that the Bronco feels balanced, sure-footed, and capable on the trail, which supports the idea that its core hardware is built for hard use. If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure prior off-road use hasn’t left behind wear, damage, or fit-and-finish issues.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Bronco?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage doesn’t replace a vehicle-by-vehicle review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, roof fit, and signs of hard use, especially if the Bronco has been taken off pavement. Pay close attention to how the vehicle presents as a rugged, adventure-focused SUV rather than assuming every example has had an easy life.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Base vehicle gets a base level of safety features, including airbags, while the Big Bend and Black Diamond trims can add the Mid Package. The Mid Package adds a reverse sensing system, Ford Co-Pilot 360, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, auto high-beam headlamps, and rear-view camera with backup assist grid lines.
- Powertrain: You get a standard turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four with 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, or an optional twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-four with 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The 2.3-liter comes with a seven-speed manual, while the 2.7-liter comes with a 10-speed automatic, and all models get standard four-wheel drive.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot 360 includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, auto high-beam headlamps, and rear-view camera with backup assist grid lines. The High Package, available on the Outer Banks, Wildtrak, and Badlands trims, adds a 360-degree camera, a forward-sensing system, and side-view mirror LED approach lamps.
- Infotainment: The Bronco uses SYNC 4 with enhanced voice recognition, and the standard touchscreen is 8 inches. A 12-inch touchscreen comes with the High Package, while the Lux Package adds a 10-speaker B&O sound system, voice-activated touchscreen navigation, and a wireless device charging pad.
- Fuel efficiency: Poor fuel economy is a known drawback, so efficiency should be part of your shopping checklist even if no MPG figure is stated here.
Which 2021 Ford Bronco trim should I buy?
The 2021 Ford Bronco is offered in 7 trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, and First Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Base: This is the entry point if you want the Bronco’s core off-road identity at the lowest price. It gives you the basic Bronco formula, but you’ll want to compare it carefully against higher trims if you care about added convenience and safety equipment.
- Big Bend: This is a smart step up if you want a more usable everyday Bronco without jumping too far up the price ladder. It’s one of the trims that can add the Mid Package, which brings meaningful safety and convenience upgrades.
- Black Diamond: Choose this if you want a Bronco that leans harder into trail use while still staying relatively accessible. Like Big Bend, it can add the Mid Package, so it’s a good place to look if you want more capability and more safety content.
- Outer Banks: This trim is aimed more at buyers who want a more polished Bronco experience. It can add the High Package, which brings the 360-degree camera and other useful features, making it a strong choice if you want more tech and visibility.
- Badlands: This is the trim to focus on if you want a more serious off-road setup with higher-end available safety content. It can also add the High Package, so it suits buyers who want capability and added driver-assistance features together.
- Wildtrak: This is the more performance-oriented choice in the lineup if you want a Bronco with a stronger emphasis on capability and equipment. It can add the High Package, so it’s a good fit if you want a well-equipped adventure model.
- First Edition: This is the most exclusive version in the lineup and suits you if you want the most complete Bronco package available. It sits at the top of the range and is the trim for buyers who want the flagship experience.
The safety-package note to keep in mind is that the Base trim starts with a more limited safety set, while the Mid Package and High Package unlock much of the Bronco’s useful driver-assistance content.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Bronco?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.
- Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,076 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.33% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $36,788, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Ford Bronco's resale value?
The current average of $36,788 sits slightly below last year's $40,573.
That price movement suggests the Bronco has already given back some value from its earlier level, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means the market is currently softer than it was a year ago, so near-term appreciation is unlikely unless demand tightens. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation compared with paying closer to the prior average.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco safe?
The 2021 Ford Bronco has not yet received crash-test ratings from NHTSA or IIHS.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot 360 is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, auto high-beam headlamps, and rear-view camera with backup assist grid lines. The High Package adds a 360-degree camera, a forward-sensing system, and side-view mirror LED approach lamps.
One caveat to keep in mind is that the Bronco’s removable-door design means you should think carefully about how you’ll use it, especially if you plan to spend time off-road.
Should I buy a 2021 Ford Bronco or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.33% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 launch brings a purpose-built off-road focus with standard four-wheel drive and two available powertrains.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $37,737, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $36,788 average.
- It broadens appeal with a deep roster of models and stronger everyday drivability.
The bottom line: If you want the lower average price and a strong deal environment, the 2021 is the better starting point. If you’re willing to pay more for a broader model roster and a slightly more polished all-around package, the 2022 is worth a look. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2021 offers the better value path right now.
