How much does the 2021 Dodge Durango cost?

Prices have softened 9.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,760 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2021 Dodge Durango a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Dodge Durango earns a 4.74/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, comfortable seating, and spacious interior. They also like the updated technology and powerful engine options, especially if you want family use with towing capability. The trade-offs are familiar for this model year: fuel efficiency draws criticism, and some shoppers wanted features that weren’t included.

The Durango’s overview makes the use case clear: you’re looking at a versatile SUV that can work as either a two-row or three-row family hauler, while still giving you performance-oriented options. That mix is a big part of its appeal.

Good and great deals account for 35.0% of listings, so you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2021 Dodge Durango reliable?

Owners rate it 4.74/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as smooth, comfortable, and spacious, and they also value the powerful engine choices and updated technology. Those themes point to a vehicle that many owners feel good about living with day to day. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Durango remains relevant through ongoing updates, which supports the sense that it can still feel current despite its age.

The performance write-up adds that the power delivery is smooth and the SUV feels controlled even when you ask for more from it. That kind of drivability matters for long-term confidence, especially if you plan to use it for commuting, family duty, or towing.

If you buy used, your biggest ownership risk is likely to come from condition and maintenance history rather than from the basic concept of the vehicle itself.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Dodge Durango?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with performance equipment. Focus on overall condition, since the cabin materials and rear-seat space are known weak points.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Lower trims use cloth upholstery and the standard 8.4-inch touchscreen, while higher trims move to more premium materials and a 10.1-inch screen. The base setup is simpler, so make sure it has the equipment you want before you commit.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 3.6-liter V6, 5.7-liter HEMI V8, 392 HEMI V8, or supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8. The V6 is the efficiency-minded choice, while the V8s are for buyers who want stronger performance and towing confidence.
• Safety package: The Durango comes standard with a rearview camera, airbags, and electronic stability control. Available driver aids include adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, rear-cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and forward-collision warning, but many of these are not standard across the lineup.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 8.4 inches on the SXT and GT, while higher trims get a 10.1-inch display. The larger screen runs Uconnect 5 and adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, OTA updates, connected services, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The source notes that fuel efficiency is a concern for some owners, but it does not provide MPG figures.

Which 2021 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?

The 2021 Dodge Durango is offered in 6 trim levels: SXT, GT, Citadel, R/T, SRT 392, SRT Hellcat.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Durango formula with the standard V6 and the simpler 8.4-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and don’t need the extra equipment found higher up.
• GT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it keeps the V6 setup but adds more equipment and can be paired with the family entertainment system. If you want a balanced daily driver without jumping into V8 pricing, this is the trim to focus on.
• Citadel: This trim is the more upscale choice, with the V6 standard and the option to upgrade to the 5.7-liter V8. It suits you if you want a more premium-feeling Durango without going all the way to the performance models.
• R/T: This is the performance-oriented V8 trim, and it comes standard with the 5.7-liter HEMI plus SRT Performance Pages. It’s the right pick if you want stronger acceleration and towing-friendly capability with a sportier personality.
• SRT 392: This trim steps up to the 392 HEMI V8 and adds serious performance hardware. Choose it if you want a much more aggressive Durango and are willing to pay for it.
• SRT Hellcat: This is the top performance model, with the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 and the most extreme output in the lineup. It’s for buyers who want the most powerful version and are shopping for excitement first.

Safety equipment varies by trim and package, so check carefully for the driver-assistance features you want.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,760 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.23% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,664, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Dodge Durango's resale value?

The current average of $26,664 sits slightly below last year's $29,375.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the Durango’s value is being supported by demand, but not immune to age-related depreciation. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the vehicle well, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.74/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Dodge Durango safe?

The 2021 Dodge Durango earns a five-star side crash-test rating from NHTSA and a four-star rollover rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Durango comes standard with a rearview camera, airbags, and electronic stability control. Available driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, rear-cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and forward-collision warning. The main caveat is that many of those features are optional rather than standard, so you need to check the exact trim and package.

Should I buy a 2021 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.74/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 brings the new SRT Hellcat and Tow N Go Package, giving the lineup a major performance boost.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,775, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $26,664 average.
• It blends three-row practicality with Dodge’s muscle-car image.

The bottom line: If you want the updated infotainment, stronger performance story, and better current-market context, the 2021 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Durango’s core appeal.
