Used 2021 Dodge Challenger for Sale nearDayton, OH

How much does the 2021 Dodge Challenger cost?

Prices have softened 4.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,425 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2021 Dodge Challenger a good car?

Yes — 4.88/5 is a strong user rating, and the expert rating is 7.00/10. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the Challenger for its power, comfort, unique styling, impressive technology, and engaging driving experience. The model’s use case is clear: you’re buying it for straight-line speed, personality, and a high-tech dragster feel rather than all-around versatility. The main trade-offs are handling that trails the competition and a cramped back seat.

With 29.9% of listings priced as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Dodge Challenger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter to owners: strong power delivery, comfort, and a driving experience people want to keep coming back to. The expert review also describes it as offering reliable power and backing that up with a full warranty, which supports confidence for long-term ownership.

If you’re buying used, the biggest ownership risk is less about the engine’s appeal and more about how the car was treated, since this model’s performance focus can attract hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Dodge Challenger?

At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has performance upgrades or signs of hard driving. Focus on body condition, tire wear, brake wear, and evidence of abuse or poor-weather use. Because this model’s appeal is tied so closely to performance, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base car is described as decent but not especially impressive, while upper trims add softer Nappa leather seats, contrast stitching, faux-suede headliners, carbon fiber on the dash, and thicker steering wheels with metal shift paddles.
• Powertrain: The lineup ranges from a 3.6-liter V6 to multiple V8s, including a 5.7-liter V8, a 6.4-liter V8, and supercharged 6.2-liter V8 versions. The V6 is quiet and efficient but not fun, while the V8s deliver the character most buyers want.
• Safety package: No driver assists are standard. Adaptive cruise control is optional, and blind-spot monitoring is one of the only other available driver assists.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An 8.4-inch screen is available and should be the one you seek out. The system also offers performance data displays and custom driving modes.
• Fuel efficiency: The performance content notes fuel economy can reach 30 mpg or 20 mpg, depending on configuration, while some high-output versions can use fuel very quickly.

Which 2021 Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?

The 2021 Dodge Challenger is offered in 4 trim levels: SXT, GT, R/T, and R/T Scat Pack.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Challenger look at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the style and space first, but it is the least exciting choice dynamically.
• GT: This trim adds the same basic V6 formula with available all-wheel drive, which may appeal if you want extra traction without moving up to a V8.
• R/T: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it brings the 375-hp V8, a six-speed manual, an active exhaust, and an upgraded suspension. It’s the trim where the Challenger’s personality really starts to come alive.
• R/T Scat Pack: This is the step-up choice if you want substantially more performance, with a 6.4-liter V8, 485 hp, larger Brembo brakes, adaptive Bilstein dampers, and six-piston front brakes. It’s the one to choose if performance is your priority.

Advanced safety features are not standard, and blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise are only available on select configurations.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Dodge Challenger?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,425 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,169, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Dodge Challenger's resale value?

The current average of $31,589 sits slightly below last year's $33,145.

That decline suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also temper near-term appreciation if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the Challenger’s value is still supported by strong enthusiast demand, but pricing is sensitive to condition, trim, and mileage. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones because this model has a loyal audience.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Dodge Challenger safe?

The Challenger earns a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but the government's tests mask the weaknesses of this old body structure.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Challenger’s safety story is mixed. The IIHS rates it good in only two tests, acceptable for roof strength and head restraints, marginal for the driver in the small overlap front test, and poor for body structure. The optional forward emergency braking feature is rated only basic. Blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise are the only other driver assists available.

Should I buy a 2021 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its single-minded straight-line speed, multiple powertrain choices, and high-tech dragster character.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,956, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $31,589 average.
• It blends retro styling with modern technology and heart-pounding performance.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-market value, enthusiast appeal, and trim variety, the 2021 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front and you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2021’s market context, the 2020 is the more price-sensitive path.
