Used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD for Sale nearLubbock, TX

How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 7.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,092 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its impressive power, spacious interior, and robust features, and many also call out the comfortable ride, especially with the 6.6 gas engine. The truck’s multiple body styles and powertrain choices also come through as recurring strengths, giving you flexibility if you want to tailor it to work or daily use.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, and the cabin design does not stand out. In use-case terms, this is the truck for you if capability and configuration matter more than refinement.

32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in day-to-day use, with owners repeatedly highlighting its power, comfortable ride, and robust feature set. The 6.6 gas engine in particular gets positive attention for delivering a reassuring, trouble-free ownership experience.

The truck’s performance notes also support that impression, with strong towing hardware and a smooth, confident power delivery from the available diesel. Chevrolet also includes a broad set of standard equipment that helps with everyday usability.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the truck’s cheaper interior materials and limited safety-feature availability may age less gracefully than its mechanical strengths.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if it looks clean on the lot. A pre-purchase inspection matters here because heavy-duty trucks often see hard use, towing, and worksite wear. Focus especially on condition, signs of abuse, and whether the truck’s equipment matches how you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Chevrolet sells the Silverado 2500HD in Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country grades, with a wide spread of body styles and bed lengths. The base Work Truck is described as fleet-like, while higher trims and special editions add more comfort and appearance content.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine or a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel. The gas engine makes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, while the diesel makes 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque and is the better choice if you tow.
• Safety package: Work Truck and Custom models can be equipped with a Safety Confidence Package that includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, steering-wheel audio controls, a 4.2-inch driver information screen, and cruise control. Other available safety features include front and rear park assist, lane-departure warning, OnStar and Chevrolet Connected Services, rear-seat reminder, high-beam assist, and following distance indicator.
• Infotainment: Every truck gets a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Chevrolet Infotainment 3, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a 3.5-inch driver information display. Available upgrades include an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and an 8-inch driver information screen.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel-economy figures are not provided for this heavy-duty truck.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is offered in 5 trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck: This is the most basic way into the Silverado 2500HD, and it makes sense if you want maximum utility and the lowest entry point. It is the fleet-like choice, so you should expect fewer comfort and convenience features than the higher trims.
• Custom: This trim adds a bit more everyday appeal while staying on the value side of the lineup. It is also one of the trims that can be equipped with the Safety Confidence Package, which makes it a smarter pick if you want more driver-assistance coverage without jumping far up the range.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it balances equipment and price well. It also gets the EZ Lift tailgate as standard for 2021 and can be paired with Duramax and Appearance Packages, giving you more flexibility without moving all the way to luxury territory.
• LTZ: This is the step up if you want more comfort and a richer feature set. It also appears in special editions such as the LTZ Premium Texas Edition, which broadens its appeal if you want a more distinctive truck.
• High Country: This is the top-end choice if you want the most upscale Silverado 2500HD experience. It is the trim to consider if you care most about premium presentation and are willing to pay for it.

The Safety Confidence Package is limited to Work Truck and Custom models, so if that package matters to you, shop those trims first.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,092 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,698, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $39,698 sits slightly below last year's $42,932.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the truck more attractive to buyers today but less favorable for sellers trying to maximize return. If you own one, the softer pricing means you may need to be more realistic when setting an asking price.

Even so, the Silverado 2500HD’s strong capability and broad appeal help support demand among heavy-duty truck shoppers. Trucks with the right configuration and condition should still hold attention better than less versatile vehicles.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD safe?

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet equips every Silverado 2500 with six airbags, a rearview camera, Teen Driver software, electronic stability control with traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Work Truck and Custom models can be equipped with the Safety Confidence Package, which adds forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, along with steering-wheel audio controls, a 4.2-inch driver information screen, and cruise control.

Additional available safety features include front and rear park assist, lane-departure warning, OnStar and Chevrolet Connected Services, rear-seat reminder, high-beam assist, and following distance indicator. The main caveat is that heavy-duty trucks are not crash tested by NHTSA or IIHS, so you do not get the same kind of independent crash-test readout you would for a light-duty pickup.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds fresh camera technology and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto availability.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $38,490, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $39,698 average.
• It is a highly capable, do-it-all heavy-duty truck with easy-to-use technology.

The bottom line: Choose the 2021 if you want the better mix of updated tech, strong owner satisfaction, and a still-softening market. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the core heavy-duty capability you’re likely shopping for.
