Used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD for Sale nearLubbock, TX

How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 9.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,374 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing configurations.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Form and function.

It is presented as a do-it-all heavy-duty pickup that can handle worksite duty and family commuting, with multiple powertrain options and easy-to-use technology. The trade-offs are clear, though: its design is polarizing, and its value is described as poor for the money.

The truck’s strengths line up with buyers who want serious capability without giving up modern convenience, but you should expect to pay for that versatility. 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Silverado 2500HD is described as a capable, modern heavy-duty truck with a cabin that keeps controls familiar and easy to use. Its expert review also emphasizes strong powertrain choices and straightforward technology, both of which can make ownership feel less demanding day to day.

The diesel option is described as punchy, and the truck’s heavy-duty setup is built for serious towing and hauling. The cost side is less reassuring, though, because the truck can climb quickly in price once you add equipment and options.

If you buy used, the biggest long-term risk is paying too much for a heavily optioned truck that may have seen hard work.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

At 73.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, bed, and undercarriage. Because this is a heavy-duty truck, condition matters as much as mileage, especially if the truck was used for towing, hauling, or job-site duty.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Work Truck comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, a V8 engine, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 3.5-inch digital instrument display, while the LT adds a larger infotainment screen and a power lift-and-lower tailgate. The LT is the best-value choice because it adds more comfort without a huge price jump.
• Powertrain: You get two 6.6-liter V8 options: a gas engine with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, or an optional Duramax turbodiesel with 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Both pair with a 10-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive or available 4WD with low-range gearing.
• Safety package: Safety Package II adds forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and the Safety Alert Seat. Safety Package I adds front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while LT, LTZ, and High Country trims get an 8-inch touchscreen. Wireless charging is standard on High Country and available on LTZ, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot is standard on LT, LTZ, and High Country.
• Fuel efficiency: In testing, the truck returned about 17 mpg.

Which 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is offered in 5 trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck: This is the most basic version, but it still gives you a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, a V8 engine, and a digital instrument display. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and can live without extra comfort features.
• Custom: This trim adds 20-inch aluminum wheels, LED taillights, a body-color split grille bar, and side-mirror cornering lights. It is a step up in appearance and convenience, but it is not the best value if you want more cabin comfort.
• LT: This is the trim CarGurus recommends because it adds a chrome grille, upgraded cloth seating, a larger infotainment screen, and a power lift-and-lower tailgate. It is the best-value trim for most used buyers.
• LTZ: This trim brings leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and remote start. It suits you if you want a more upscale truck and are willing to pay for it.
• High Country: This is the top trim and includes features such as a spray-on bed liner, front and rear park assist, and the power up-and-down tailgate. It is the right pick if you want the most equipment and are shopping near the top of the range.

Safety Package I adds front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring, while Safety Package II adds forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and the Safety Alert Seat.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options and enough price softness to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,374 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,490, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $38,490 sits slightly below last year's $42,395.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future buyers but may limit upside for a seller in the near term. If you plan to resell later, condition and equipment will matter a lot, especially on a truck that can vary widely in price depending on trim and options.

The current pricing also shows that the model is still trading in a meaningful range, so well-kept examples should remain marketable. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD safe?

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes with a reversing camera, traction control, and a full array of airbags. Safety Package I adds front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring, while Safety Package II adds forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and the Safety Alert Seat.

The LTZ improves on the reversing camera with a surround-view camera with trailer views. If you are shopping lower trims, pay close attention to whether the safety packages are included, because they add meaningful driver-assistance coverage.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for multiple powertrain options and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $39,698, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $38,490 average.
• It adds more configuration choices and innovative camera technology.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the stronger starting point because prices have softened and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year with added configuration flexibility and camera tech, the 2021 is worth a look.
