CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Nissan Titan
overall

Summary
With 892 currently listed for sale and an average price of $26,934.00, 30.0% of 2020 Nissan Titans for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Nissan Titan 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
74.2% of 2020 Titan models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Nissan Titan stands out as a more convincing full-size pickup than Nissan has offered in the past, with the test-drive summary describing it as a worthy alternative in the segment. For 2020, Nissan made major strides in technology, safety, and overall value, which gives this truck broader appeal than its reputation might suggest. It also earns credit for a powerful engine and a spacious cabin, two traits that matter a lot in a full-size pickup.
Even so, the Titan is not without drawbacks. The test-drive data calls out outdated technology and uninspired styling, which helps explain why many shoppers still look elsewhere in the segment. Still, for buyers who want a roomy truck with strong power and improved value, the 2020 Nissan Titan presents a more compelling case than its earlier reputation would imply.

The Titan is the value in the truck world. It comes standard with loads of saftey tech, a powerful engine, and quick shifting transmission. It is not as good as a top line Ford, GM , or Ram. Those trucks, which will be marginally better, run 10-15k more. You can easily spend 60k on an xlt f 150 and not get leather seats. 60k puts you into the Plantinum Reserve territory for the Titan.

Love the smooth transition from any speed, and the power. Very comfortable and well appointed. For a powerful V-8 and full size truck , I think it gets good gas mileage too. Lots of interior storage space, and overall well designed. Trading up from an extended cab 2002 F-250, so quite a jump all around. Choose the Titan from reviews and articles. The other trucks I considered were the Ram and Tundra, but very happy with this.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert notes call out outdated technology and uninspired styling. That matters less if you want a roomy full-size pickup with strong power and improved value, but it does matter if design and cutting-edge tech are high priorities.
With 27.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you a decent chance to find a strong-value example.
Is the 2020 Nissan Titan reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a truck that feels reliable, dependable, and trouble-free enough that buyers appreciate it for the long haul. That lines up with the broader impression of a truck you can count on for everyday use and ownership.
The expert notes reinforce that sense of durability by emphasizing the Titan’s improved body structure, standard driver assists, and added safety hardware. Nissan also includes a 5-year/100,000-mile warranty, which adds some ownership reassurance.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core truck and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Nissan Titan?
At 74.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Because this truck was improved in several areas for 2020, condition matters a lot when you’re comparing similarly priced examples.
Pay extra attention to how the truck was equipped, since some of the most useful upgrades are tied to specific trims and packages. A careful test drive should also confirm that the powertrain, brakes, and electronics all feel as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lower trims can feel plain, while upper trims add more polished exterior details and a richer cabin. The SV is the one CarGurus recommends you buy, and it strikes the best balance of equipment and value.
- Powertrain: The Titan uses a 5.6-liter V8 with 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is optional.
- Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes front and rear automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and auto high beams. Adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, and 360-degree cameras are optional.
- Infotainment: The truck offers an 8- or 9-inch touchscreen. The 9-inch screen adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and over-the-air updates, and it’s the better choice if you want the most modern setup.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert notes say 16 mpg was averaged over a 500-mile week.
Which 2020 Nissan Titan trim should I buy?
The 2020 Nissan Titan is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, and Platinum Reserve.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into Titan ownership and can live with a simpler feature set.
- SV: This is the best-value trim. It adds the equipment CarGurus points to as the sweet spot, and the available Convenience package brings extra technology and interior amenities.
- Platinum Reserve: This is the upscale choice if you want the most premium-feeling Titan, with more luxury-oriented equipment and appearance details.
The Safety Shield 360 suite is standard, which is a strong plus across the lineup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Nissan Titan?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile examples.
- Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 882 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.70% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 74.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $26,567.65, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Nissan Titan's resale value?
The current average of $26,861 sits slightly below last year's $29,421.
That price movement suggests the Titan has softened in the used market, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment because the market has already adjusted downward.
The good news is that strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when you eventually sell. Well-kept trucks with the right trim and features should remain easier to move than neglected examples.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Nissan Titan safe?
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The Titan’s safety story is built around Nissan Safety Shield 360, which is standard and includes front and rear automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and auto high beams. A rear-door alert also comes standard, and additional features such as adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, and 360-degree cameras are optional.
The expert notes also point to improved body structure and added airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners, which helped lift the truck’s safety standing. One caveat is that the 2020 Titan itself had not yet been tested by NHTSA or IIHS in the source data.
Should I buy a 2020 Nissan Titan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 74.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.70% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2020 brings major strides in technology, safety, and overall value.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $30,621, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $26,861 average.
- It carries over the refreshed Titan formula with strong standard power and technology.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and the truck gained meaningful upgrades. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year example, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative for buyers who want the same basic formula with a later build.
