Used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD for Sale nearDurham, NC

How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 6.67% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,144 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and configurations.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its impressive power, spacious interior, and robust features, and they also point to comfortable ride quality and strong capability with the 6.6 gas engine. On the other hand, the interior materials draw criticism, and some owners mention missing extras and minor cosmetic issues.

That lines up with the truck’s intended use: it’s a heavy-duty pickup built for buyers who want serious work-ready ability, multiple body styles, and multiple powertrain options without giving up modern convenience. For shoppers who value capability and configuration flexibility more than cabin polish, it makes sense.

30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s still room to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for its power and comfortable ride. That same feedback also suggests you can count on it for the kind of long-term work buyers expect from a heavy-duty pickup.

The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the Silverado HD as plenty capable and easy to live with on the highway, with comfortable accommodations and useful camera technology. Chevrolet also includes a standard hitch, seven-pin connector, trailering mirrors, rearview camera, and hitch-guidance technology, which supports confidence in regular towing use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright capability and more about whether the truck was maintained and used hard, especially if it spent a lot of time towing or working.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because heavy-duty trucks are often used hard and may have seen towing, hauling, or jobsite duty. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on wear from work use, interior condition, and any signs that the truck’s equipment or safety features were skipped or damaged.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Silverado 2500HD comes in Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country grades, with special editions such as the LTZ Premium Texas Edition, Midnight Edition, Z71 Sport Edition, and Z71 Chrome Sport Edition. Base trims are more utilitarian, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience, and the LT can be equipped with Duramax and Appearance Packages.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine or a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel. The gas engine makes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, while the diesel makes 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque and is the stronger choice if you tow.
• Safety package: Work Truck and Custom models can be equipped with a Safety Confidence Package that includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, steering-wheel audio controls, a 4.2-inch driver information screen, and cruise control. Other available safety features include front and rear park assist, lane-departure warning, OnStar and Chevrolet Connected Services, rear-seat reminder, high-beam assist, and following distance indicator.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Chevrolet Infotainment 3, plus two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Available upgrades include an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, a WiFi hot spot, and a bed view camera.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel-economy figures are not provided for this heavy-duty truck.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is offered in 5 trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck: This is the most basic choice, aimed at buyers who want the core heavy-duty capability and standard equipment without extra frills. It makes sense if you care most about utility and price.
• Custom: This trim adds a bit more everyday appeal while staying close to the truck’s work-focused roots. It’s a sensible step up if you want a little more comfort without moving too far up the price ladder.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more convenience and can be equipped with Duramax and Appearance Packages. It also gets the EZ Lift tailgate as standard for 2021 and can be paired with the bed-view camera.
• LTZ: This trim moves further into comfort and features, and it can be paired with special editions like the LTZ Premium Texas Edition. Choose it if you want a more upscale heavy-duty truck without going all the way to the top.
• High Country: This is the most premium version and is the right pick if you want the most upscale Silverado 2500HD experience. It’s the trim to consider if you want the highest level of equipment and are willing to pay for it.

Work Truck and Custom models are the trims that can be equipped with the Safety Confidence Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,144 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.67% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,729, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $39,951 sits slightly below last year's $42,805.

That decline suggests the truck has become a bit more buyer-friendly in the used market, which can make it easier for future sellers to price competitively. If you own one, the current trend means you may need to be realistic about resale expectations rather than assuming strong appreciation.

Even so, the Silverado 2500HD’s broad appeal, strong capability, and steady demand from heavy-duty truck shoppers help support long-term value. Trucks with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD safe?

The Silverado 2500HD has a different platform, body shell, and mechanics than its regular-duty Silverado 1500 counterpart, so crash-test results are not indicative of how it would respond in a collision.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet equips every Silverado 2500 with six airbags, a rearview camera, Teen Driver software, electronic stability control with traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Work Truck and Custom models can be equipped with the Safety Confidence Package, which adds forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, along with steering-wheel audio controls, a 4.2-inch driver information screen, and cruise control.

That means you should pay close attention to trim level if safety tech matters to you, since some of the more useful driver-assistance features are not standard across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds fresh camera technology and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto availability for the model year.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $38,602, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $39,951 average.
• It is presented as a highly capable, feature-rich heavy-duty truck that asks a lot in return.

The bottom line: If you want the better mix of current-market value, owner satisfaction, and updated tech, the 2021 is the stronger default choice. If your priority is spending less up front and you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2021 updates, the 2020 is the more price-sensitive path.
