CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Chevrolet Blazer
overall

Summary
With 242 currently listed for sale near Detroit, MI and an average price of $19,165, 18.2% of 2021 Chevrolet Blazers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer 4.88 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.5 / 10.
64.5% of 2021 Blazer models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer stands out by putting exterior design and performance ahead of everything else. It has a sporty, Camaro-inspired personality that makes it feel more style-driven than many crossovers, and its handling is one of its biggest strengths. The technology is also easy to use, which helps the Blazer feel approachable even when its mission is clearly more about flair and driving enjoyment than maximum practicality.
That emphasis on style comes with tradeoffs. The interior materials feel cheap, the transmission is irritating, and the Blazer is considered poor value for money. It is also described as a rarer sight on the road, in part because it sits between two other Chevrolet crossovers that are positioned differently, with one offering lower pricing and similar cargo space and the other adding a third row and the same powertrain. For buyers who want a crossover with a distinctive look and engaging road manners, the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer has a clear appeal, but it asks a premium for those qualities.

I love this vehicle! Plenty of leg room, comfortable seating and responsive. I love the 308 hp V6. I had gotten away from Chevrolet for sometime. The value and dependability of their vehicles dropped considerably . The Blazer is the redeeming vehicle for me. The options on my Blazer are great for me and may not be suitable for other customers but at least there are plenty to choose from. If Great value for the money.

I really like the look of the Blazer, very sporty looking. I test drove the RS with the 3.6L V6 engine and it was very responsive and appeared to have plenty of power. Interior is only available in black and seemed plain, even with the red accents that come with the RS package. I did like the dash configuration and gauge cluster, reminded me of the Camaro. Over all I liked it, but compared to equally equipped Jeep Grand Cherokee or Ford Edge it is overpriced. Pricing seems to be the same as the Traverse which is a larger SUV.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer a good car?
Yes — the 4.88/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 6.5/10. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.
Drivers consistently praise the sporty look, responsive power, and driving enjoyment. The Blazer also gets credit for easy-to-use technology and features that make it feel approachable in daily use. For buyers who want a crossover with a distinctive style and engaging road manners, that combination is a major part of the appeal.
The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, the transmission is irritating, and value for money is weak. That means you’re mainly buying into style and driving character, not class-leading polish or practicality. The market reflects that, with 33.9% of listings marked as good or great deals.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers repeatedly highlighting the Blazer’s responsive power and enjoyable day-to-day use. The expert evaluation also supports that impression by describing the vehicle as straightforward to live with and easy to use, which helps reinforce confidence over time.
The cost-effectiveness notes also suggest the Blazer asks a lot up front, so long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about whether you’ll stay satisfied with the price you paid.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?
At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the cabin and controls show wear that matches the mileage. Because this model is style- and feature-driven, you’ll want to make sure the specific example you’re considering still feels worth the premium.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base L and 1LT trims miss some of the more desirable equipment, while the LT, RS, and Premier lines add more visual distinction and available upgrades. The interior is described as low-rent, so higher trims matter if you want a more satisfying cabin.
- Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter inline-four is underpowered and noisy, while the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder is the better everyday choice. The 3.6-liter V6 is the strongest option and is paired with the sportier RS setup.
- Safety package: Driver assists come standard on most trims except the L and 1LT, including forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams. The more advanced enhanced forward emergency braking is only available on top trims with the Driver Confidence II package.
- Infotainment: Every Blazer gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet Infotainment 3, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. The Plus version adds navigation with traffic, 4G WiFi, onboard apps, better voice recognition, and two-phone pairing.
- Fuel efficiency: The AWD V6 returns 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the AWD turbo inline-four is 22/27/24.
Which 2021 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 5 trim levels: L, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, RS, Premier.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the cheapest way into the Blazer, but it’s also the trim you should be most cautious about because the base engine is the weakest choice and the equipment list is sparse. It makes sense only if price is your absolute priority.
- 1LT: This trim still sits near the bottom of the range and doesn’t solve the core issue of the base powertrain. You’re better off moving up if you want the Blazer’s style to come with a more satisfying driving experience.
- 2LT: This is the best-value starting point because it pairs with the 2.0-liter turbo engine and gives you a much better balance of performance and everyday usability. If you want the Blazer without overpaying, this is the trim to target first.
- 3LT: This trim builds on the 2LT formula and is a better fit if you want more equipment without jumping all the way to the sportier or luxury-leaning versions. It’s a sensible middle ground for shoppers who want more comfort and flexibility.
- RS: This is the enthusiast choice, especially if you want the 3.6-liter V6 and the sport-tuned suspension, brakes, and steering. It’s the trim that best matches the Blazer’s style-first, driving-focused personality.
- Premier: This is the upscale choice, but the cabin still doesn’t fully escape the Blazer’s cheaper interior feel. Buy it if you want the most features and are comfortable paying for them.
Driver-assistance features are standard on most trims except the L and 1LT, and the enhanced forward emergency braking is reserved for top trims with the Driver Confidence II package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,144 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.85% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 73.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,275, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?
The current average of $21,275 sits slightly below last year's $23,600.
That decline suggests the Blazer has softened in the used market, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. A lower current price can also mean future resale gains may be more limited unless the market strengthens. If you buy at the right number and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your exit value.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer safe?
The 2021 Blazer earns five-star ratings from NHTSA overall and in all three crash tests, with four-star ratings for the front passenger in the frontal crash and for rollover. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it top Good ratings in all crash tests, but Marginal and Poor ratings for headlights.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The standard driver-assistance setup includes forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams on most trims. The more advanced enhanced forward emergency braking uses radar in addition to the camera, but it’s only available on top trims with the Driver Confidence II package. A driver’s knee airbag is standard, while GM’s inboard side airbag and rear emergency braking are not offered.
Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.85% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It emphasizes style and handling over practicality, with easy-to-use technology and a sporty personality.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $23,997, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,275 average.
- It adds more cargo utility and remains best used on pavement.
The bottom line: If you want the better buy today, the 2021 is the stronger path because pricing has eased and inventory is available. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2022 is the secondary path, but it asks a higher price for a similar overall mission.
