How much does the 2020 Toyota Tundra cost?

Prices have softened 2.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,661 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Toyota Tundra earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 5.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, power, and spacious interior, and many describe it as sturdy and dependable for long-term ownership. That lines up with the overview’s focus on durability and its appeal for buyers who want a truck that feels built to last. The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and a noisy driving experience, along with an outdated interior design compared with competitors. With a 33.3% share of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a truck that many owners feel comfortable counting on for long-term ownership. The expert summary is even more direct, describing it as “utterly bulletproof” in terms of reliability, and the cost-effectiveness notes add that Toyota includes free scheduled maintenance for 2 years or 25,000 miles. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about living with age-related compromises in efficiency, refinement, and safety.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota Tundra?

At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, frame areas, and any signs of prior repair work. Because this truck’s appeal depends heavily on condition and long-term durability, you’ll want to focus on how well it has been maintained and whether any accident damage affected the truck’s structure or drivability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Toyota sells the 2020 Tundra in SR, SR5, Limited, TRD Pro, Platinum, and 1794 Edition trim. The higher you climb on this trim-level ladder, the fancier and plusher a Tundra gets. Cab styles include Double Cab and CrewMax, and depending on the cab and trim, one of three bed lengths is available. The TRD Pro adds a tougher, more technical appearance, while the interior can feel hard and plastic-heavy at higher price levels.
• Powertrain: All 2020 Toyota Tundras have a 5.7-liter V8 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission. This refined and durable workhorse makes 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. An electronic shift-on-the-fly 4WD system is optional on all but the TRD Pro, which includes it as standard equipment.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, and you can also get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Every Tundra includes a free year of Safety Connect services, which provides automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, and other useful features.
• Infotainment: A 7-inch display is standard in lower trim levels, while more expensive versions upgrade to an 8-inch screen. All versions include Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, USB media and charging ports, and free trial subscriptions to safety-related and WiFi connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says a Tundra 4WD gets 13 mpg in the city, 17 on the highway, and 14 combined. The truck’s gas mileage is described as unimpressive.

Which 2020 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2020 Toyota Tundra is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, TRD Pro, Platinum, and 1794 Edition.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the starting point if you want the lowest entry price and the core Tundra formula, but you give up the fancier cabin and upgraded equipment found higher up the range.
• SR5: This is the trim to consider if you want a practical step up from the base truck without chasing luxury extras.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim if you want a more polished feel without going all the way to the pricier upper trims.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused choice, with standard 4WD, BBS forged aluminum wheels, heavy-duty Fox off-road shocks, a TRD-tuned dual exhaust system, and an aluminum skid plate.
• Platinum: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale Tundra with a plusher feel.
• 1794 Edition: This is the most distinctive luxury-leaning option if you want the most premium presentation in the lineup.

Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, and you can also get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,661 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,093, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $36,389 sits slightly below last year's $37,408.

That modest decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper short-term appreciation if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the Tundra’s reputation for durability and its strong owner satisfaction help support demand over time. If you keep the truck in good condition and avoid accident history, you’re more likely to preserve value than with a less trusted full-size pickup.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2020 Toyota Tundra earns Good ratings from IIHS in some tests, but it also gets a Marginal rating for the driver, a Poor rating for the front passenger in small-overlap frontal testing, and Marginal headlights. It earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side-impact protection from NHTSA.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, and you can also get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Every Tundra includes a free year of Safety Connect services, which adds automatic collision notification and SOS emergency calling. The main caveat is that the crash-test results are a weak point, especially the small-overlap frontal performance.

Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 keeps the Tundra’s durable V8 formula while adding modern infotainment and standard Toyota Safety Sense.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $33,261, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $36,389 average.
• It keeps the same proven, no-nonsense truck formula with a simpler, old-school appeal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $38,090, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $36,389 average.
• It adds modern infotainment and safety tech to an older but still relevant full-size pickup.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest balance of price, proven durability, and modern convenience, the 2020 is the sensible pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better value path; if you want a slightly newer take and can spend more, the 2021 is worth a look.
