The Impreza is Subaru’s compact car. Available as a sedan or a 5-door hatchback, it does battle against the Volkswagen Jetta and Golf, Hyundai Elantra and Elantra GT, and Honda Civic. Options consist of 16-, 17-, or 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, body-color heated side mirrors, a power driver’s seat, keyless access and start, automatic headlights, an 8.0-inch infotainment system, and a moonroof. The Impreza gets Subaru’s EyeSight technology on all configurations equipped with the CVT. It comprises automatic pre-collision braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, sway warning, and lead-vehicle start alert. New for 2020 are automatic power door locks, which automatically unlock in the event of a collision. The only options are blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert. Subaru tends to achieve excellent safety scores, and the Impreza is no exception: both body styles received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) Top Safety Pick + award in 2019.
