How much does the 2020 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 12.48% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,013 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and conditions.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.38/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the rugged design, off-road capability, and the sense that the Wrangler is built for something more purposeful than a typical crossover. The review summary also points to comfort and modern features like heated seats as welcome surprises for a Wrangler.

On the trade-off side, the expert notes poor fuel economy, road noise, and a rougher ride than car-based SUVs. The overview also frames it as a trail-focused SUV rather than a soft-road commuter, so it fits you best if you value character and capability over refinement.

With 36.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a decent amount of market flexibility if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because they value its ruggedness and off-road ability. The expert notes that the diesel adds strong low-speed torque and that the Wrangler’s purpose-built nature is part of its appeal, which can matter if you want a vehicle that feels durable in the way it’s used.

The cost-effectiveness discussion also emphasizes that the Wrangler is designed for getting off the beaten path, not for minimizing ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same traits that make it appealing can also mean higher running costs and more compromises in everyday use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and pay close attention to how it was used, especially if it may have seen trail duty. A pre-purchase inspection matters here because the Wrangler’s appeal often depends on capability, and hard use can show up in wear, modifications, or neglected maintenance. Focus on condition, equipment completeness, and whether the truck matches the kind of ownership you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is very bare-bones, with manual windows and locks, a 5-inch touchscreen, and little else, while the Sport S adds power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. The Sahara is the most upscale trim, adding body-color fender flares, 18-inch alloy wheels, bigger brakes, and more available comfort features, while the Rubicon brings lifted off-road suspension and mud-terrain tires for the most serious trail use.
• Powertrain: The base 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and it comes with a 6-speed manual or an available 8-speed automatic. You can also choose a turbocharged 4-cylinder with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft, or the new 3.0-liter turbodiesel with 260 hp and 442 lb-ft for stronger low-speed pull and better highway efficiency than the gas turbo four.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes airbags, electronic roll mitigation, and a backup camera. The base safety package adds rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control and full-speed forward-collision warning.
• Infotainment: The Sport and Sport S use a basic 5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The Technology Package upgrades the Sport S to a 7-inch touchscreen with Uconnect, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, automatic temperature control, and a 7-inch digital display, while the Sahara and Rubicon can be had with an 8.4-inch Uconnect system that adds navigation, HD Radio, real-time traffic and weather updates, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and automatic high beams.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The most efficient gas version, the turbo 4-cylinder with the 8-speed automatic, returns 21 mpg city, 22 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2020 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most stripped-down version, with manual windows and locks, a 5-inch touchscreen, eight speakers, and a USB port. It makes sense only if you want the lowest entry point and plan to add very little.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. It also opens the door to the Technology Package and Cold Weather Group, which make the Wrangler much easier to live with.
• Sahara: This is the more upscale choice, with body-color fender flares, 18-inch alloy wheels, bigger brakes, and standard 7-inch infotainment. It suits you if you want a Wrangler that feels more comfortable and better equipped for daily use.
• Rubicon: This is the trail-focused flagship, with a lifted off-road suspension, mud-terrain tires, and more mechanical upgrades. It’s the right pick if off-road capability matters more to you than comfort or highway polish.

The safety packages are worth considering on any trim, especially because the Wrangler’s sightlines can be awkward.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,013 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.48% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,248, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $25,248 sits slightly below last year's $28,848.

That price movement suggests the Wrangler has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help you enter the market at a lower cost. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment rather than assuming the market will keep climbing.

Because the Wrangler has strong brand recognition and a loyal audience, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than many mainstream SUVs. The biggest advantage for resale is that buyers still want the Wrangler’s identity and capability, even when prices soften.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes airbags, electronic roll mitigation, and a backup camera. The base safety package adds rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control and full-speed forward-collision warning.

A key caveat is that some of the most helpful driver-assistance features are bundled into optional packages rather than included across the board. That means you should check carefully for the safety equipment you want on any used example.

Should I buy a 2020 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.48% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The new diesel engine broadens the Wrangler Unlimited’s appeal with stronger torque and better highway efficiency than the gas turbo four.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,745, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $25,248 average.
• It adds a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and a Hemi V8 for four-door buyers.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because prices have softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for newer powertrain choices, the 2021 is the better path.
