CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Summary
With 7,982 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,077, 33.3% of 2019 Jeep Wranglers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Jeep Wrangler 4.33 / 5 stars.
75.8% of 2019 Wrangler models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Jeep Wrangler stands out because it keeps the Wrangler formula intact while adding meaningful modern upgrades. The fourth-generation Wrangler is longer and wider for better accessibility, and it brings new and updated engines, an easier-to-fold windshield, easier-to-remove doors, an optional Sky One-Touch Power Top, zipperless soft tops, blind-spot monitoring, improved off-road capability, and better on-road performance. It also retains the Wrangler’s classic identity with a separate body and frame, rigid live axles, a fold-flat windshield, removable doors, and a heavy-duty four-wheel drive system.
For 2019, the Wrangler carried over the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and added a 270-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine available with all trims. A six-speed manual was standard with the V6, while an eight-speed automatic was optional with the V6 and standard with the four-cylinder. The interior is more modern than the exterior suggests, with push-button start as standard, an available digital gauge cluster, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel available on all models, and Uconnect infotainment offered with five-, seven-, or 8.4-inch displays. Safety equipment also includes standard side-impact airbags, available driver-assist features, and a lower beltline for better visibility, though the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found this generation has a propensity to overturn in the small front overlap crash test and gave it a marginal score for that metric.
Buyers are often drawn to the 2019 Wrangler for its unmatched off-road character and high level of customization, and owners praise its fun driving experience and outdoorsy appeal. At the same time, it is not the most polished daily driver: the source notes poor ride quality on tarmac, excessive wind noise at highway speeds, and less cargo volume than other SUVs, while owners also mention limited interior space and fuel economy.

This Jeep came with every imaginable option. Its a great value compared to a new one. Its my second Jeep and my first JL. It runs and rides like a dream. I did consider a Ford Bronco but the Jeep Wrangler wins hands down! I highly recommend a nice gently used Jeep Wrangler.

How much does the 2019 Jeep Wrangler cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $24,070 |
| Year-Round Low | $24,070 |
| Year-Round High | $27,132 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $27,132 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.28% |
Prices have softened 11.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 7,966 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.
Is the 2019 Jeep Wrangler a good car?
Generally — the 4.33/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its fun driving experience, power, and outdoorsy appeal, and they also value its reliability for off-road adventures. The Wrangler’s use case is clear: you’re shopping for a rugged SUV with strong character rather than a polished daily commuter. With 33.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Jeep Wrangler reliable?
Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback also points to reliability in the way owners describe it as dependable for off-road adventures and something they can count on for its rugged purpose. That kind of satisfaction matters if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long haul, especially because used buyers should expect ownership risk to rise if prior maintenance or off-road use was neglected.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Jeep Wrangler?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should prioritize a history report first, then inspect the vehicle closely for signs of prior damage, heavy off-road use, or uneven wear. Focus on condition details that matter most on a Wrangler, including body integrity, interior wear, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. If possible, get a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch issues before they become expensive surprises.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Jeep Wrangler?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards patience and comparison shopping.
- Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 7,966 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.28% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 75.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,070, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?
The current average of $24,070 sits slightly below last year's $27,132.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you pay close to the current average, your resale upside may be more limited than if you buy near the low end of the range. Strong demand for the Wrangler’s character and capability can still support value retention, especially when the vehicle has been well cared for.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.28% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $21,452, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $24,070 average.
- It was newly redesigned and still feels unmistakably like a Wrangler.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $25,508, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $24,070 average.
- It adds a new diesel engine for more grunt in the Unlimited.
The bottom line: The 2019 is the best all-around pick if you want a strong mix of owner satisfaction, softened pricing, and broad inventory. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2018 is the better value play, while the 2020 makes sense if you want to spend more for the newer-year upgrade path.
