Used 2020 Hyundai Elantra for Sale near Ohio

How much does the 2020 Hyundai Elantra cost?

Prices are up 1.66% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 2,286 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Hyundai Elantra earns a 4.5/5 user rating, and our experts give it an 8.3/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its great value, gas mileage, and smooth ride, and they also highlight the safety features and updated technology. In practical terms, that lines up well with a compact sedan that is meant to be a smart everyday choice rather than an exciting one. The trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and poor fuel economy, so you should expect a commuter-first personality rather than a sporty one. With its spacious cabin and value-focused positioning, it fits best if you want a practical sedan that stretches your budget. The market also shows 34.6% good or great deals, which points to solid buying opportunities.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a car that owners trust for great value, gas mileage, smooth ride quality, and safety features, all of which support a dependable ownership experience. The expert evaluation also emphasizes low cost of ownership and free scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership burden. Hyundai’s long warranty coverage adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about durability and more about whether the car’s modest performance and efficiency meet your expectations over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Hyundai Elantra?

At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or has incomplete service records. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of repair quality, since accident history can affect both value and long-term satisfaction. It also makes sense to compare trim equipment carefully so you know whether the car has the safety and tech features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE is the most stripped-down version, with a 5-inch screen, while the SEL adds a larger 7-inch display plus Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The Value Edition adds Blue Link Connected Car and Remote plans, and the Limited brings wireless smartphone charging and a premium Infinity sound system; the Sport adds its own upgraded equipment and can be optioned further with a Premium Package.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 147-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a CVT, while the Eco uses a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and improved combined fuel economy. The Sport uses a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder with 201 horsepower and a seven-speed DCT.
• Safety package: Smart Sense is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a driver attention monitor. Starting with SEL trim, you also get blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert, while the Limited and Sport add full LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation. The Limited’s Ultimate Package adds adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, and Safe Exit Assist.
• Infotainment: Base models get a 5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and a USB port. SEL trim upgrades to a 7-inch display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM, while the Limited’s Ultimate Package increases the screen to 8 inches and adds navigation, Blue Link Guidance service, and SiriusXM data services.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard powertrain is rated at 34 mpg in combined driving, while the Eco returns 36 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2020 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2020 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, SEL, Value Edition, Eco, Limited, and Sport.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Elantra lineup and can live with the smaller 5-inch screen and fewer convenience features.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 7-inch display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Value Edition: Choose this if you want a little more connected-car convenience, since it adds Blue Link Connected Car and Remote plans for the first three years of ownership.
• Eco: Pick this if fuel economy matters most, since it uses the turbocharged 1.4-liter engine and returns 36 mpg in combined driving.
• Limited: This is the comfort-and-tech upgrade, with wireless smartphone charging, the premium Infinity audio system, and available navigation through the Ultimate Package.
• Sport: This is the choice if you want the most powerful engine and the most engaging setup, with 201 horsepower and a sport-tuned chassis.

Smart Sense is standard on all trim levels, and SEL and above add blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert.

• Inventory: There are 2,286 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.66% year-over-year.

What is the 2020 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $13,504 sits slightly above last year's $13,283.

That modest increase suggests the Elantra has held value reasonably well for a compact sedan in this segment. For a future seller, the current trend points to steady demand rather than a sharp swing in either direction. If you keep the car in clean condition and maintain it well, you should be able to stay competitive in the used market. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Smart Sense is standard on all trim levels and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a driver attention monitor. NHTSA also notes a concern about rear-door intrusion on the rear-seat passenger during the side-impact test.

Should I buy a 2020 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.66% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds free scheduled maintenance and new standard safety features.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $11,402, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $13,504 average.
• It remains a strong value with the Sport trim changing the experience most.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $15,524, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $13,504 average.
• It brings a redesigned cabin with broader appeal and stronger tech.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, standard safety, and lower running costs, the 2020 is the smart middle ground. If your priority is the lowest purchase price, the 2019 is worth a look; if you want a more modern redesign and can spend more, the 2021 is the upgrade path.
