Used 2020 GMC Acadia for Sale near New York

How much does the 2020 GMC Acadia cost?

Prices have softened 11.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,696 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2020 GMC Acadia a good car?

Yes — the 2020 GMC Acadia earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise the smooth, quiet ride, the spacious interior, and the impressive features. The upscale Denali trim is especially well liked for its luxurious feel, and the Acadia also gets credit for comfort and design that work well for family trips.

The trade-offs are that some shoppers wish for more cargo space and more up-to-date technology, and the expert review also points to a price that can feel high for what you get. In practical terms, this is a good fit if you want a family-friendly three-row SUV with a refined feel and easy-to-use tech rather than the most exciting or value-packed choice in the segment.

The market reflects that mixed appeal, with 35.2% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2020 GMC Acadia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers repeatedly highlighting comfort and a smooth ride that they can count on for family use. The expert review also describes the Acadia as a vehicle that behaves in a refined, predictable way, which supports the impression of steady day-to-day dependability.

GMC also includes the first maintenance visit at no charge, which helps a little with early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle was maintained well and equipped with the features you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 GMC Acadia?

At 68.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Because advanced safety features are not standard, it also makes sense to confirm exactly which driver-assistance equipment is on the specific vehicle you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Acadia comes in SL, SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali trims. Base trims are more basic, while higher trims add more upscale materials and equipment; the Denali stands out for its more luxurious feel, and the AT4 adds a more rugged personality.
• Powertrain: Lower trims use a 193-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, while SLT gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 230 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque. AT4 and Denali use a 310-hp 3.6-liter V6, paired with a nine-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning are standard, but forward collision warning and low-speed automatic emergency braking require at least SLT or AT4. The Driver Alert Package adds lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, pedestrian braking, parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and a head-up display.
• Infotainment: Every Acadia includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and GMC Connected Services with a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. Versions with an 8-inch touchscreen get a higher-resolution display, a simpler interface, and improved voice recognition.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 21 mpg in combined driving, and the Acadia’s powertrain is described as efficient enough to include stop/start and cylinder deactivation.

Which 2020 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?

The 2020 GMC Acadia is offered in 5 trim levels: SL, SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SL: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Acadia, but you should expect the fewest features and the biggest gaps in advanced safety equipment.
• SLE: This is the value-minded choice if you want a step up from the base trim without chasing luxury extras; it keeps the Acadia’s core family-friendly strengths while staying relatively accessible.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and can add important safety equipment that is not standard on lower trims.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the more rugged personality and the standard V6, along with the dual-clutch AWD setup and all-terrain tires.
• Denali: This is the trim to buy if you want the most upscale Acadia, with the V6, more premium cabin touches, and the most available equipment.

Safety-package features are not standard across the lineup, so if driver assistance matters to you, verify the exact trim and option package before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 GMC Acadia?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that every listing is a bargain.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,696 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,757, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $19,760 sits slightly below last year's $22,294.

That decline suggests the Acadia has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you’re buying now and planning to sell later. For a future seller, the upside is that the market may be less likely to punish you with another steep drop if you buy near today’s average and keep the vehicle in good condition.

The model’s value story is still tied to how buyers perceive it: a comfortable, well-equipped three-row SUV with broad appeal, but not a standout in resale strength. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 GMC Acadia safe?

The 2020 Acadia earns five-star ratings in most NHTSA assessments, plus a four-star rollover resistance rating. In IIHS testing, it receives high marks in the tests it has completed.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes a rear-seat reminder system, Teen Driver technology, automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic warning. Forward collision warning and low-speed automatic emergency braking require at least SLT or AT4, and the more advanced automatic emergency braking system is exclusive to Denali.

The main caveat is that advanced driver assistance is limited unless you move up the trim ladder, so you should not assume a used Acadia has the safety tech you want without checking the exact build.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 refresh adds bolder styling, a new AT4 trim, a turbocharged four-cylinder, a nine-speed automatic, and updated technology.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $16,837, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $19,760 average.
• It offers a more upscale cabin and a distinctive feel for buyers who want a family-friendly SUV with a refined character.

The bottom line: Buy the 2020 if you want the updated styling, newer tech, and broader trim and powertrain choices. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2019 is the better value play, especially if you can find one in strong condition.
