CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Ford Fusion

Summary
With 1,292 currently listed for sale and an average price of $14,142.00, 29.3% of 2020 Ford Fusions for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford Fusion 4.8 / 5 stars.
63.9% of 2020 Fusion models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford Fusion stands out as a midsize sedan that blends sharp styling, useful technology, and a roomy cabin without asking luxury-car money. Ford overhauled the Fusion for the 2013 model year, and by the end of the run it still benefited from that strong foundation: the car offered available all-wheel drive, the Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid, and a broad spread of engines and trims. It also had plenty of space, with 38.3 inches of rear legroom and a 16 cubic-foot trunk, making it an easy sedan to live with.
What makes the 2020 model especially appealing is how much equipment Ford had added over time. The best-equipped versions are the 2019 and 2020 models, and Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system, added in 2017, brought Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also gained a wide range of driver aids, including lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking. Buyers looking for value could still find a lot to like, since the Fusion was described as a good car at a good price and as a potentially good deal.
There are tradeoffs, though. The non-hybrid gas models were noted as lagging rivals in MPG, and some owners have mentioned engine noise and a lack of driving feel compared with competitors. Even so, the 2020 Ford Fusion remains distinctive for combining attractive design, strong road manners, and a generous feature set in a sedan that was still widely available as a used car.

This is a great vehicle with superior handling and brakes. Good acceleration for a 4 cylinder. I came from a dated vehicle so this feels like it is driving itself. Would recommend if you need a smaller sedan for your needs.

Yes — the 2020 Ford Fusion earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its beautiful design, smooth handling, and impressive amount of technology for the price, and they also like the comfortable ride, good fuel efficiency, and spacious trunk. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a midsize sedan that feels polished, practical, and well equipped without luxury-car pricing. With 27.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2020 Ford Fusion reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with praise for its smooth handling, comfortable ride, and technology that holds up well over time. That said, some shoppers mention engine noise and a lack of driving feel, so you should still judge each used example on maintenance history and condition rather than assuming every car will feel the same. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a neglected example, so a careful inspection matters.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Fusion?
At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection and pay close attention to body panels, paint consistency, tire wear, and signs of uneven repair work. Because condition can vary meaningfully from one listing to another, the best buys are the cars with clean records, clear maintenance evidence, and no obvious signs of rushed repairs.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Fusion?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and focused.
- Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,266 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.31% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,036.70, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $14,090 sits slightly below last year's $15,202.
That price movement suggests the Fusion has softened enough to create better buying conditions now, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your exit value later. Models with clean histories and strong equipment tend to be easier to resell because shoppers still respond to the Fusion’s style, space, and feature content.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.31% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2020 if you want the Fusion at its most mature, well-equipped point and you find a clean example at a competitive price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2020 remains the safer pick when you want the strongest mix of features, owner satisfaction, and current market value.
