CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 2,599 currently listed for sale and an average price of $16,956.00, 30.6% of 2020 Ford Edges for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford Edge 4.63 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
77.9% of 2020 Edge models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford Edge is a midsize two-row SUV that stands out less for flash than for being a straightforward, well-equipped choice. Its design is showing signs of age, and the styling is uninspired, but it makes up for that with plenty of standard tech and safety features. It also offers easy-to-use technology, which helps give it broader appeal for shoppers who want something familiar and simple to live with.
What makes the 2020 Ford Edge distinctive is that it stays relevant through equipment rather than drama. Ford keeps it fitted with the latest infotainment and safety technology, and the lineup includes a performance variant called the Edge ST. That gives it an extra layer of interest in a segment where many rivals are more conventional. At the same time, the Edge is getting long in the tooth and its base engine is underwhelming, so it is best suited to buyers who value comfort, space, and useful features over standout driving excitement or bold design.

Reviewed a 2020 Ford Edge on Mar 2, 2026
I was impressed with the features of the Ford Edge SE (i.e. backup camera, lane assist, multiple airbags, roominess, etc.) I was also impressed with the comfort of the seats and the comfort of the ride on rougher paved roads. Compared to my 2019 Ford Escape Titanium, I have only found two negatives: 1. Remote start is not on the keyfob but only available through the phone app 2. Manual liftgate instead of the power liftgate

This car has all the bells and whistles. Lane assist, auto headlights and whipers, wireless charging pad, number pad entry so you can leave your car running but locked, hands free lift gate sun and moon roof. The list goes on.

It is the best vehicle in its class for the money. I would compare this to an Audi SQ5, Mercedes AMG GL class, Mazda CX-5, Chevrolet Blazer, Genesis GV70 and many others.

How much does the 2020 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $16,949 |
| Year-Round Low | $16,722.49 |
| Year-Round High | $18,568.92 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $18,572 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.74% |
Prices have softened 8.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,629 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $16,722.49, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Ford Edge earns a 4.63/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, and modern features, and they also point to the solid build quality and roomy interior that make it appealing for families and taller passengers. The Edge’s easy-to-use tech and broad feature set help it feel familiar and simple to live with.
The trade-offs are clear: the styling is uninspired, and the underwhelming base engine keeps it from feeling especially exciting. That makes the Edge a better fit if you value comfort, space, and useful equipment over standout driving drama.
With its two-row midsize SUV layout and straightforward feature set, it suits you best if you want a practical daily driver rather than a flashy redesign. The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 31.4% of listings marked as good or great deals.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.63/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels solid, comfortable, and dependable in everyday use, with many drivers highlighting the roomy cabin and strong overall build quality. That kind of feedback matters if you want something you can count on for family duty and regular commuting.
The expert notes also reinforce that the Edge is built around familiar, easy-to-live-with strengths rather than complexity for its own sake. Ford’s standard tech and safety setup adds to the sense that the vehicle is designed to be straightforward to own.
If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is that some examples may show the kind of tech or transmission concerns owners have mentioned, so a careful test drive and history check matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Edge?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 78% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a vehicle history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a long option list. Focus on overall condition, how the tech works, and whether the drivetrain feels smooth in normal driving.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE starts with a 10-way power driver’s seat, satellite radio, a WiFi hotspot, two USB ports, remote keyless entry, SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, dual-zone climate control, and Ford Co-Pilot360. The SEL adds LED fog lights, heated side mirrors, 18-inch wheels, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a six-speaker premium audio system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Titanium adds 19-inch wheels, genuine leather upholstery, a 10-way power front passenger seat, driver’s seat memory, a wall-style power outlet, remote start, wireless charging, and a 12-speaker B&O sound system. The ST adds a bigger engine, standard AWD, and sportier styling.
- Powertrain: The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, with front-wheel drive or available AWD through an eight-speed automatic. The ST uses a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, standard AWD, and stronger performance.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard on every trim and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on the SEL and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go traffic capability plus active lane centering.
- Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is optional on the SEL and ST and standard on the Titanium, and the system includes SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link with five years prepaid.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive 2.0-liter four-cylinder returns 21 mpg city, 29 highway, and 24 combined. With AWD, it returns 21 mpg city, 28 highway, and 23 combined. The ST returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, and 21 combined.
Which 2020 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the value play if you want the Edge’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, and Ford Co-Pilot360, so it covers the essentials well.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a lot of comfort and convenience equipment without jumping too far in price. Heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, LED fog lights, and the upgraded audio system make it feel more complete.
- Titanium: Choose this if you want the most upscale everyday Edge experience. The leather upholstery, wireless charging, memory seating, premium audio, and standard navigation make it the most polished non-performance choice.
- ST: Pick this if you want the strongest performance and standard AWD. The larger V6, sportier tuning, and performance-focused character make it the clear choice for drivers who care most about speed and handling.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard across the lineup, while Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on the SEL and adds adaptive cruise control and lane centering.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Edge?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile deals.
- Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,629 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.74% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 78.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $16,722.49, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $16,949 sits slightly below last year's $18,572.
That price movement suggests the Edge has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. A softer market today can also make it easier for you to find a well-equipped example without paying peak pricing.
For resale, the Edge’s broad appeal as a comfortable, practical two-row SUV should help it remain relevant with used buyers. Strong equipment and a good reputation for comfort can support demand, especially if you keep mileage and condition in check.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.63/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge safe?
The 2020 Ford Edge received a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover crash tests.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 comes standard on every trim and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. If you move up to the SEL, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+ for adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and active lane centering.
One caveat is that IIHS headlight performance varies by trim, so you should pay attention to the specific version you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 78% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.74% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.63/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines standard Co-Pilot360 safety tech with easy-to-use SYNC 3 and a broad trim lineup.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $15,406, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $16,949 average.
- It offers roomy practicality with an available ST trim.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $19,304, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $16,949 average.
- It adds a few new tech features while keeping the familiar roomy formula.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and broad availability, the 2020 is the primary path to consider. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2019 can save you money while still delivering the Edge’s core strengths.
