The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the Atlas a 5-star overall rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the 2018 model Good scores for crash testing across the board and a Top Safety Pick designation. For 2019, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert become standard, along with automatic post-collision braking and a reversing camera.
