How much does the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas cost?

Prices have softened 11.48% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,555 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Atlas options to compare.

Is the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a three-row midsize SUV with a spacious cabin, especially in the second and third rows. Its straightforward layout, refined driving dynamics, and practical family-focused design make it a strong fit if you want room for passengers and cargo without giving up a premium feel. 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which adds to the model’s shopping appeal.

Is the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Atlas was also described as having some reliability trade-offs, including transmission hesitations and failures on VR6 models, electrical faults, and premature wear of interior components. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is worth taking seriously, especially if you’re looking at higher-mileage examples or vehicles with incomplete service records.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Volkswagen Atlas?

At 68.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on the transmission, electrical systems, and interior wear, since those are the areas that can matter most on this model. Focus on overall condition and maintenance documentation so you can separate a well-kept Atlas from one that may carry hidden ownership costs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Volkswagen Atlas?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,555 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.48% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,560, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Volkswagen Atlas's resale value?

The current average of $16,560 sits slightly below last year's $18,707.

That softer pricing suggests the Atlas has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and maintain it well, you may be better positioned when it’s time to sell. The current market also suggests buyers are still willing to consider this model, especially when the price is competitive.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.48% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $14,086, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $16,560 average.
• It emphasizes roomy, practical family transportation with straightforward utility.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the better all-around pick if you want the stronger market position, better pricing context, and a more appealing used-buy profile. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2018 is the value-oriented alternative worth considering.
