How much does the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback cost?

There are 248 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.00/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, great fuel economy, compact size, easy maneuverability, tech features, and thoughtful design. The overview also frames it as a more stylish, more sophisticated hatchback that still keeps practical appeal, which fits the way shoppers use this segment.

The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and limited space, especially in the back seat and cargo area. That means you should think of it as a smart, efficient daily driver rather than a hatchback built for maximum speed or maximum room.

Good and great deals make up 28.6% of listings, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary also points to a dependable-feeling package, with praise for the smooth ride, great fuel economy, and compact size that makes it easy to live with day to day.

The expert notes reinforce that impression by emphasizing Toyota’s longstanding reputation for durability and describing the car as likely to last for a long time. The cost-effectiveness discussion also highlights free scheduled maintenance for the first two years of ownership, which can help reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific car has been maintained well and avoided hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback?

At 65.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this car is often bought as a practical daily driver, condition matters a lot: check the cabin, infotainment, brakes, tires, and suspension for wear that could point to heavier use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The car is offered in SE and XSE trim. The XSE adds more equipment and a more upscale feel, while the base trim keeps the package simpler.
• Powertrain: A naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder makes 168 horsepower and is paired with a 6-speed manual or a Dynamic Shift CVT. The CVT adds launch gear behavior, pre-programmed ratios, and manual-shift mode with paddle shifters.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard on every 2019 Corolla Hatchback. It includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist. Maximum adaptive cruise-control capability requires the CVT, and blind-spot warning does not include rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen is standard, along with Apple CarPlay. Android Auto is not included. The system also brings fast-charge USB ports, connected navigation app support, Wi-Fi Connect, Safety Connect, Siri Eyes Free, and Amazon Alexa integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test notes an EPA rating of 33 mpg in combined driving, and the car is described as delivering great fuel economy.

Which 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is offered in 2 trim levels: SE and XSE.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the simpler, lower-cost choice if you want the Corolla Hatchback’s core strengths without paying for extra equipment. It still gives you the standard safety suite, Apple CarPlay, and the same basic powertrain, so it makes sense if value is your top priority.
• XSE: This is the best-value trim if you want the more premium-feeling version. It adds more upscale equipment, a richer interior presentation, and more tech content, making it the better pick if you want the Corolla Hatchback to feel more polished.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard across the lineup, and maximum adaptive cruise-control capability requires the CVT.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback?

This is a seller’s market, so you should shop selectively and move quickly when you find a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 248 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.20% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 65.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,807, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $17,693 sits slightly above last year's $17,311.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A stable-to-rising price trend usually helps support resale because it shows buyers are still willing to pay for the car’s mix of efficiency, practicality, and value.

If the model continues to attract shoppers looking for a compact hatchback with strong ownership appeal, that should help keep demand steady. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback safe?

The 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard on every 2019 Corolla Hatchback, and it includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist. The expert notes also say the adaptive cruise is fairly refined.

There are a couple of caveats to keep in mind. The lane-keeping and lane-centering systems can occasionally provide false alerts or actions that you may need to override, and blind-spot warning does not include rear cross-traffic alert. The expert also notes that the steering can feel worse when those systems are engaged.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.20% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Hatchbacks are hot right now, and this year stands out as more stylish, more sophisticated, and better to drive than the Corolla iM it replaces.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, owner satisfaction, and modern hatchback appeal, the 2019 is the right place to start. If you are especially price-sensitive, focus on the lower end of the range and be selective about condition and history, since the market still rewards clean, well-kept examples.
