Used 2019 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2019 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 1.81% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,962 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 4.81/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.17/10. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, smooth ride, and spacious interior, while also highlighting its off-road capability and comfort. The 4Runner’s use case is clear: you’re shopping for a rugged SUV that prioritizes trail ability, cargo space, and a proven, no-nonsense feel over modern tech. The main trade-offs are outdated technology and poor fuel economy, and the market still shows 34.3% good or great deals.

Is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.81/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many owners saying it’s a vehicle they can count on for the long term. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by describing the drivetrain as proven components that work together well, even if they’re old. That said, used buyers should still budget carefully for age-related wear and higher ownership costs, especially if the truck has seen hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota 4Runner?

At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used off-road or to tow. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and signs of hard use, since this model’s appeal often comes from capability that can also accelerate wear. Pay close attention to how the truck was equipped, because some trims are much better suited to daily use than others.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR5 is fairly bare bones, while the SR5 Premium adds heated side mirrors, heated front seats, SofTex upholstery, a power front passenger seat, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. If you want the best value, the SR5 Premium is the trim the expert review recommends stepping up to.
• Powertrain: You get one engine: a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic and available 4WD with low-range. It’s a proven setup, but it is old and not especially efficient.
• Safety package: The 4Runner includes a full array of airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera, but no modern driver-assistance features are standard.
• Infotainment: The 4Runner does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The SR5 Premium adds Entune Premium Audio with Navigation, and the system is basic rather than cutting-edge.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4WD model returns 17 mpg city, 20 highway, and 18 combined, while the RWD version does 17/21/18.

Which 2019 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core 4Runner formula with 17-inch alloy wheels, skid plates, the power rear window, cloth upholstery, Bluetooth, and a rear cargo-area power outlet. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it feels stripped down.
• SR5 Premium: This is the best-value trim because it adds heated side mirrors, heated front seats, SofTex upholstery, a power front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and Entune Premium Audio with Navigation. If you want a more livable daily driver without jumping into the pricier off-road trims, this is the one to target.
• TRD Off-Road: This trim adds the off-road hardware that defines the 4Runner’s personality, including a locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, and crawl control. It gives up some comfort content, so it suits you best if trail use matters more than convenience.
• TRD Off-Road Premium: This is the sweet spot for buyers who want the off-road gear plus more comfort, since it brings back the Premium trim’s nicer equipment and adds a power moonroof. It’s the most balanced choice if you want capability without feeling like you’re giving up too much.
• Limited: This trim shifts the 4Runner toward curb appeal with chrome-heavy styling, 20-inch wheels, real leather, heated and cooled front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. It’s the right pick if you care more about comfort and appearance than ruggedness.
• TRD Pro: This is the most serious off-road version, with a unique grille, roof rack, fog lights, all-terrain tires, upgraded Fox Racing shocks, TRD-tuned front springs, and a thicker skid plate. Choose it if you want the most trail-focused 4Runner and are willing to pay for it.

The safety content notes that advanced driver-assistance features are not standard, so trim choice does not solve that gap.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,962 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.81% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,372, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $31,669 sits slightly below last year's $32,254.

That tells you the market has eased, which can help you as a buyer but may temper near-term resale upside if you plan to sell soon. Even so, the 4Runner’s reputation for reliability and strong owner satisfaction helps support demand. Its rugged identity and loyal following also make it more resilient than many SUVs when it comes time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.81/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2019 Toyota 4Runner earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA and three-star ratings in rollover testing.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment is basic: a full array of airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera. Toyota does not include modern driver-assistance features here, so you should not expect the standard active-safety suite that many newer SUVs offer. That lack of advanced safety tech is the main caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.81/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its old-school, off-road-first character and strong trail capability.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $34,874, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $31,669 average.
• It adds standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the lower price and the classic 4Runner formula, the 2019 is the better buy. If you’re willing to spend more for newer safety tech, the 2020 is the smarter alternative. For most price-sensitive shoppers, the 2019 offers the stronger value proposition.
