How much does the 2019 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 8.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,741 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Kia Sorento earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, and strong value, and they also like the third-row seating and smooth road manners. That lines up well with the Sorento’s family-friendly focus in the overview, where it’s positioned as a practical midsize SUV with a stylish, even luxurious feel.

With 32.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a comfortable, dependable-feeling SUV that many drivers are happy to live with over time, especially because it delivers strong value and a smooth driving experience. The expert review also emphasizes the Sorento’s robust road manners and its class-leading warranty and roadside assistance coverage, which support confidence in ownership.

Kia’s warranty coverage helps reduce long-term ownership risk, but you should still pay close attention to engine choice, equipment level, and maintenance history when shopping used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Kia Sorento?

At 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lot of equipment. Focus on condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re looking at.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The L starts the lineup, while LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited add progressively more equipment. The base trim leaves out some of the safety tech that appears on higher versions, so you should compare feature content carefully before you buy.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 185-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder, while higher trims can get a 290-horsepower 3.3-liter V6. The V6 brings smoother, quicker acceleration and is the better fit if you want stronger passing power or plan to carry passengers often.
• Safety package: The Sorento includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert on all versions except the base L. The EX adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention monitoring, while those features are standard on EX, SX, and SX Limited.
• Infotainment: Base trims get a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims add UVO eServices, and the top system brings an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, SiriusXM traffic data, HD Radio, and a wireless charging tray on SX and SX Limited.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review notes 21 mpg in combined driving for the V6 test vehicle, and the performance section says the Sorento returned 20.7 mpg during testing.

Which 2019 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2019 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX, SX Limited.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but it’s the most stripped-down version and leaves out some of the safety content that appears on higher trims. It makes sense only if your priority is the lowest possible purchase price.
• LX: This is the trim to focus on if you want a practical starting point with more flexibility, since it can be paired with the available V6 and still keeps the Sorento’s core family-friendly appeal. It’s the best-value choice for many shoppers because it gives you room to add the equipment you actually want without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• EX: This is the sweet spot if you want the strongest mix of comfort, safety, and everyday usability. It adds the V6, leather seats, most of the safety technologies, and UVO eServices, making it the most well-rounded choice for many used buyers.
• SX: This trim adds more upscale equipment and can be paired with the larger infotainment setup and optional surround-view camera. It suits you if you want a more premium feel without going all the way to the top trim.
• SX Limited: This is the most luxurious version, with the top infotainment system, standard surround-view camera, premium audio, and the richest interior treatment. It’s the right pick if you want the most features and are willing to pay for them.

All versions except the base L include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and the EX and above add the broader safety suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,741 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,635, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $13,635 sits slightly below last year's $14,871.

That decline suggests the Sorento has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the current average or below it, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell.

The market also appears active enough to support demand, especially for well-equipped examples with strong condition and clean history. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2019 Kia Sorento gets top marks from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sorento’s safety package includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert on all but the base L, while the EX and above add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention monitoring. That gives you a broad set of standard and available driver aids, though the base trim misses some of the more advanced features.

Should I buy a 2019 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 model benefits from updated styling, a strong safety suite, and a broad mix of trims and powertrains.

The bottom line: If you want a well-rounded Sorento with strong safety, good owner satisfaction, and a softer used-car price, the 2019 is a smart target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years and shop whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, equipment, and history.

How does the 2019 Kia Sorento compare to the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Our experts score the 2019 Kia Sorento 8.5/10 and the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe 8.2/10. The Sorento has the edge in expert scoring, while the Santa Fe shows a stronger accident-free share and a slightly higher average used price. Both SUVs are closely matched on engine output, fuel economy, and starting MSRP, so your decision may come down to deal availability, condition, and which cabin or feature set you prefer.
