How much does the 2019 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 8.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,737 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Kia Sorento earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

You get a strong mix of comfortable ride quality, a spacious interior, and good value, and owners also repeatedly point to the third-row seating and smooth road manners. The overview also frames it as a practical family SUV with a stylish, even luxurious feel and plenty of room for a family of four.

With 32.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers consistently describe it as a comfortable, dependable-feeling SUV with strong value, and the feedback also highlights its smooth road manners and family-friendly practicality. The expert review reinforces that impression by emphasizing the Sorento’s class-leading warranty and roadside assistance coverage, which adds confidence for long-term ownership.

The main used-buyer risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained well, especially if you want to avoid surprises from higher-mileage examples or less desirable engine configurations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Kia Sorento?

At 62.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim or higher-mileage example. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment on the listing matches the trim level you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The L trim is the most basic version, while EX, SX, and SX Limited add more comfort and convenience equipment. The EX stands out because it brings most of the safety technologies, while the SX Limited adds premium touches such as Nappa leather and a more upscale cabin finish.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 185-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder, while the available 290-horsepower 3.3-liter V6 is the stronger choice and is standard on the EX, SX, and SX Limited. All-wheel drive is optional, and the V6 pairs with a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are included on all versions except the base L trim. The EX adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention monitoring.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims can add an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, wireless charging, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review notes 21 mpg in combined driving for the V6 test vehicle.

Which 2019 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2019 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX, SX Limited.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but it’s the most stripped-down version and misses key safety equipment that you’ll find on higher trims. It makes sense only if you want the lowest possible price and can live without the richer feature set.
• LX: This trim adds more flexibility and can be paired with the available V6, making it a better fit if you want stronger performance without jumping all the way to the upper trims. It’s a sensible middle ground if you want more capability than the L without paying for luxury extras.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it brings the V6, nicer wheels, leather seats, and most of the safety technologies. If you want the Sorento’s strongest blend of comfort, safety, and everyday usefulness, this is the one to target.
• SX: This trim builds on the EX with more premium equipment and can be paired with the larger infotainment setup and available surround-view camera. It suits you if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for it.
• SX Limited: This is the most luxurious version, with premium materials, the top infotainment setup, and standard surround-view camera coverage. It makes sense if you want the most fully equipped Sorento and are comfortable paying near-new-SUV money for a used example.

The EX is the trim that most clearly balances value and equipment, while the SX Limited is the one to choose if you want the most upscale cabin and feature content.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,737 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,631, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $13,631 sits slightly below last year's $14,977.

That softer pricing can work in your favor if you buy now, because you’re starting from a lower acquisition cost than a year ago. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than on broad market appreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2019 Kia Sorento gets top marks from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sorento’s safety package includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert on all versions except the base L trim. The EX adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention monitoring. That means you’ll want to pay close attention to trim level if safety tech is a priority.

Should I buy a 2019 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 model stands out for its updated styling, strong safety tech, and class-leading warranty coverage.

The bottom line: The 2019 is a smart choice if you want a well-rounded Sorento with strong safety, good owner satisfaction, and a lower average price than last year. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can use the softer market to target a well-kept example, but you should still prioritize condition and trim content over chasing the cheapest listing.

How does the 2019 Kia Sorento compare to the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Our experts score the 2019 Kia Sorento 8.5/10 and the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe 8.2/10.

The Sorento has the edge in expert scoring, while the Santa Fe shows a stronger accident-free share and a slightly higher average used price. Both SUVs share the same starting engine output and similar fuel economy, so your decision comes down more to condition, deal quality, and which cabin or feature set you prefer.
