How much does the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 11.72% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,862 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.8/5 model with an expert rating of 8.2/10. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its value, safety features, comfort, spacious interior, and ride quality. That lines up well with its role as a practical crossover that sits between compact and midsize SUVs, giving you a useful middle ground if you want everyday versatility without stepping up to a larger SUV.

There are 36.5% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable and easy to live with, with many drivers describing it as a solid choice for value, safety, and comfort. The expert evaluation also emphasizes composed driving and solid value, which supports the idea that this is a crossover you can count on for everyday use.

That said, some owners mention occasional reliability concerns, particularly involving the battery, so a careful pre-purchase inspection matters if you want to reduce long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?

At 73% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, electronics, and battery-related systems, since those are the kinds of issues that can affect long-term ownership confidence. It also helps to focus on overall condition and maintenance records, especially if you’re comparing similarly priced listings.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE trim comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, high-beam assist, power heated side mirrors, LED daytime running lights, manual seats, and remote keyless entry. Higher trims add fog lights, power seating, heated front seats, push-button start, parking sensors, rear-occupant alert, dual automatic climate control, a premium sound system, full LED lighting, a panoramic sunroof, leather seating, memory settings, heated rear seats, and ventilated front seats.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque on all trims, while Limited and Ultimate are available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 235 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The base engine is described as sluggish, while the turbo is praised for strong acceleration.
• Safety package: Hyundai Smart Sense includes forward-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, rear cross-path detection, and visual cues in the instrument panel. Safe Exit Assist is also standard.
• Infotainment: The base SE gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a USB port. SEL and above add satellite radio, HD Radio, and BlueLink with Alexa integration, while the Ultimate upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen, a head-up display, and wireless charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive 2.4-liter version is rated at 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The AWD turbo model is rated at 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined.

Which 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited, and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value pick if you want the most standard equipment for the money, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 7-inch touchscreen, and Hyundai’s full safety suite. It’s the trim CarGurus recommends if you want the strongest blend of price and content.
• SEL: This trim adds useful everyday upgrades like fog lights, heated front seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and push-button start. It makes sense if you want a more comfortable daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• SEL Plus: This is the best-value upgrade if you want more comfort and convenience, since it adds 18-inch wheels, parking sensors, rear-occupant alert, dual-zone climate control, and a 630-watt Infinity audio system.
• Limited: This trim brings a more premium feel with full LED lighting, satin chrome door handles, a panoramic sunroof, and leather seating. It’s a good fit if you want the Santa Fe to feel more upscale.
• Ultimate: This is the most fully equipped version, adding rain-sensing wipers, memory seats, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, a head-up display, and wireless charging. It suits you best if you want the most features and don’t mind paying for them.

Safe Exit Assist is standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,862 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.72% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,785, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $14,787 sits slightly below last year's $16,750.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you’re thinking about future resale. If you buy at a strong price now, you’ll have less depreciation left to absorb than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. The Santa Fe’s broad appeal, comfort, and safety reputation should still help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe earns 9/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with Hyundai Smart Sense, which includes forward-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, rear cross-path detection, and Safe Exit Assist. It also includes a reversing camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a full array of front- and side-impact airbags.

That standard safety content is a major strength, especially if you’re comparing it with other used crossovers that may not include as much driver assistance equipment. Safe Exit Assist is a notable feature because it helps prevent rear passengers from opening doors into traffic.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers a useful middle ground between compact and midsize SUVs, with strong safety and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $14,264, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $14,787 average.
• It emphasizes safety, roominess, and dependability.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $16,361, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $14,787 average.
• It adds a standard rear-seat reminder and an available camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the better all-around pick if you want a strong mix of value, safety, and comfort. If your priority is spending less, the 2018 is the cheaper route; if you want newer features and don’t mind paying more, the 2020 is the upgrade path.

How does the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe compare to the 2019 Kia Sorento?

Our experts score the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe 8.2/10 and the 2019 Kia Sorento 8.5/10. The Sorento edges ahead on expert score, but the Santa Fe offers a stronger used-market value story with a lower average price and a higher share of good or great deals. The Santa Fe also has a better accident-free share, while both SUVs deliver the same engine output and similar fuel economy.
