CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Summary
With 7,759 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,181.00, 33.1% of 2019 Jeep Wranglers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Jeep Wrangler 4.33 / 5 stars.
75.9% of 2019 Wrangler models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Jeep Wrangler stands out because it keeps the Wrangler’s classic identity while adding meaningful modern upgrades. The fourth-generation Wrangler is described as looking remarkably similar to its predecessors, but it is longer and wider for better accessibility, and it brings easier-to-fold windshield and easier-to-remove doors, an optional Sky One-Touch Power Top, zipperless soft tops, blind-spot monitoring, improved off-road capability, and better on-road performance. That combination makes it appealing to buyers who want the Wrangler’s traditional rugged character without giving up some everyday usability.
Mechanically, the 2019 model retains the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and adds a 270-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that is available with all trims. A six-speed manual transmission is standard with the V6, while an eight-speed automatic is optional with the V6 and standard with the four-cylinder engine. Inside, it stays retro in appearance but is thoroughly modern, with push-button start as standard and an available digital gauge cluster, plus Uconnect infotainment in five, seven, or 8.4-inch displays. Safety and convenience also improve with standard side-impact airbags, available driver-assist features, and a lower beltline for better visibility.
There are still tradeoffs, though. The Wrangler JL is noted for the propensity to overturn during the small front overlap crash test and receives a marginal score for that metric. The broader Wrangler lineup is also associated with poor ride quality on tarmac, excessive wind noise at highway speeds, and less cargo volume than other SUVs, and owners of the 2019 model echo concerns about interior space and fuel economy. Even so, for buyers prioritizing off-road ability, open-air versatility, and a distinctive design, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler remains one of the most recognizable choices in the segment.

This Jeep came with every imaginable option. Its a great value compared to a new one. Its my second Jeep and my first JL. It runs and rides like a dream. I did consider a Ford Bronco but the Jeep Wrangler wins hands down! I highly recommend a nice gently used Jeep Wrangler.

How much does the 2019 Jeep Wrangler cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $24,283 |
| Year-Round Low | $24,290.40 |
| Year-Round High | $27,266.31 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $27,264 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.94% |
Prices have softened 10.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 7,958 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy pool to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $24,290.40, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 Jeep Wrangler a good car?
Generally — the 4.33/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the Wrangler’s fun driving experience, power, and outdoorsy appeal, and they also like its reliability for off-road adventures. The tradeoff is that some owners want more interior space, better fuel economy, and more modern convenience features, so it fits you best if you value rugged character and open-air versatility over everyday refinement. With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Jeep Wrangler reliable?
Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to reliability and trouble-free use in the context of off-road adventures, which is encouraging if you plan to use it the way a Wrangler is meant to be used. That said, long-term ownership risk for used buyers still depends on how well the vehicle was maintained and whether it has been driven hard off pavement.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Jeep Wrangler?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should prioritize a history report first, then focus your inspection on signs of prior damage, hard use, or poor repairs. Pay close attention to overall condition, especially if the vehicle has been used for off-road driving, since that can affect wear in ways a quick walkaround may miss. A careful test drive and a thorough inspection matter more here than they do on a typical commuter SUV.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Jeep Wrangler?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but should still move quickly on standout listings.
- Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 7,958 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.94% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 76.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,290.40, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?
The current average of $24,283 sits slightly below last year's $27,264.
That price movement suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. The Wrangler’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, especially among shoppers who want its off-road identity and distinctive design. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and maintain it well, you should be in a better position when it’s time to resell.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.94% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $21,675, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $24,283 average.
- It was thoroughly rebooted and finally all-new.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $25,799, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $24,283 average.
- It adds a diesel option that broadens powertrain appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and current market availability, the 2019 is the primary path to consider. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2018 is the better value play, especially if you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2019’s added refinement and features.
