How much does the 2019 Hyundai Elantra cost?

Is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Hyundai Elantra earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its impressive features, smooth acceleration, comfortable interior, spacious trunk, and useful driving assist features. For you, that means this Elantra makes the most sense if you want a value-focused compact sedan for daily errands and longer trips, especially if comfort and equipment matter more than driving excitement.

32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on smooth acceleration, a comfortable cabin, and useful features you can count on. The expert review also describes it as a very nice car exuding quality and value, with a straightforward, easy-to-use infotainment system and a strong warranty plan that includes 5 years or 60,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage and 10 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage.

If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic durability and more about finding a well-kept example with the right equipment and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Hyundai Elantra?

At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, tire wear, or interior wear that doesn’t match the mileage. Focus on condition and equipment level, because the Elantra’s value proposition depends heavily on getting the right features for the money. If you’re comparing listings, make sure the car’s trim and safety equipment match what you expect before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more comfort, convenience, and safety equipment. The Limited trim stands out for its upgraded interior and added features, but the base trim leaves out some of the more desirable tech and driver-assistance content.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 147 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It delivers acceptable acceleration and a combined 32 mpg.
• Safety package: Starting with the SEL trim, you get forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, a blind-spot-monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver-monitoring system. The Limited trim adds adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection enhancement, automatic high-beam headlights, and Safe Exit system.
• Infotainment: Versions above the base SE include a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and satellite radio. The Limited trim adds an Infinity premium sound system, and the Ultimate Package brings an 8-inch display, navigation, and SiriusXM Data Services.
• Fuel efficiency: The Elantra returns 32 mpg in combined driving, and the EPA says it can achieve 32 mpg combined.

Which 2019 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2019 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, Value Edition, Eco, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the cheapest path into the Elantra, but it’s also the most basic. Choose it only if your priority is the lowest purchase price and you’re comfortable giving up some of the nicer tech and safety content found higher up the range.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds important driver-assistance equipment without pushing you into the most expensive version. It’s the trim to target if you want a smarter balance of price and features.
• Value Edition: This trim makes sense if you want a richer ownership experience, including added convenience and connected-services perks. It’s a good middle ground if you want more than the SEL without going all the way to Limited.
• Eco: This trim is for you if efficiency is a priority and you want a version tuned more toward economy-minded driving. It’s the trim to consider if your daily commute is the main use case.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich choice, with the strongest mix of comfort, safety, and infotainment upgrades. Buy this one if you want the most complete Elantra experience and are willing to pay for it.

The Limited trim is also the one that adds the most advanced safety and convenience features, including adaptive cruise control and Safe Exit system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Elantra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,342 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,402, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $11,402 sits slightly below last year's $12,381.

That price movement suggests the Elantra has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. Because the market has softened, your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim level rather than broad market momentum alone. Well-equipped examples with strong maintenance history should be easier to move than bare-bones cars with visible wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2019 Elantra gets top marks across the board from IIHS, except for an Acceptable rating for the accessibility of its LATCH child-seat anchors. It earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact results and a four-star side-impact protection rating for rear-seat occupants.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Starting with the SEL trim, you get forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, a blind-spot-monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver-monitoring system. The Limited trim adds adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection enhancement, automatic high-beam headlights, and Safe Exit system.

The main caveat is the LATCH anchor accessibility rating, which is the one area where the IIHS result is not top-tier.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The turbocharged Sport trim is the version that changes the overall experience most favorably.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $13,504, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $11,402 average.
• It adds free scheduled maintenance.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing is softer and inventory is broad. If you’re willing to pay more for added ownership perks, the 2020 is the better secondary path for price-insensitive shoppers.

How does the 2019 Hyundai Elantra compare to the 2019 Honda Civic?

Our experts score the 2019 Hyundai Elantra 8.2/10 and the 2019 Honda Civic 7.8/10.

The Elantra is the stronger value play, with a much lower average used price and a higher share of good or great deals. The Civic counters with more horsepower and slightly better accident-free inventory, but the Elantra’s combination of price, equipment, and satisfaction makes it the easier recommendation if you’re shopping used on a budget.
