Summary

Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Mustang stands out as one of the most recognizable performance cars on the road, and its appeal comes from the way it blends everyday accessibility with classic Mustang character. Ford’s long-running pony car has always been offered in coupe and convertible body styles, and that familiar formula remains a big part of its identity. For shoppers, the Mustang’s draw is not just heritage but the promise of a fun-to-drive experience in a car that has helped define what an American performance car can be.
What makes the 2019 Ford Mustang especially distinctive is the breadth of its lineup and the variety of engines and trims available in this generation. The sixth-generation Mustang, which began production for the 2015 model year, brought a sleeker design, a new independent rear suspension, and Ford’s EcoBoost engine lineup. It also offered a 3.7-liter V6, a 5.0-liter Coyote V8, and two versions of the 5.2-liter V8, along with transmission choices that included two six-speed manuals, six- and 10-speed automatics, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. That range gives the Mustang a wide performance spread, from mainstream daily-driver appeal to serious high-performance capability.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The Mustang’s rear seat is small, and models with the EcoBoost engine are known for problems with oil consumption and potential head gasket failure, while the transmission may be prone to slippage. Even so, the 2019 Ford Mustang remains appealing because it offers iconic styling, strong performance, and a level of choice that few sports cars can match.

Reviewed a 2019 Ford Mustang on Jan 20, 2021
The ford mustang has been and will always be the go-to American muscle car. However, the convertible EcoBoost diverges from this trend and created its own market of enthusiasts. The premium package provides numerous safety packages creating a more luxurious feel to the interior while maintaining a sporty exterior. The 2019 EcoBoost convertible is a car that can give you a fun Sunday drive but also take you to work the next day without any hassle. The mpg is by far one of the most unusual features provided specifically from the EcoBoost series and somehow still creates a feeling of high torque and good horsepower through the turbo in the car. Altogether, the mustang EcoBoost convertible is a fantastic starter car for new mustang enthusiasts who want a sports car for a daily driver. I highly recommend this vehicle.

Is the 2019 Ford Mustang a good car?
Yes — the 4.86/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its power, style, and comfortable ride, and many also highlight its fun-to-drive handling. That fits the Mustang’s role as a performance car that still works as an everyday choice for shoppers who want classic character with broad appeal. With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.
Is the 2019 Ford Mustang reliable?
Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback also points to a car that feels enjoyable and confidence-inspiring over time, with praise for its power, handling, and comfortable ride. The recurring reliability theme in owner comments is that it delivers a satisfying ownership experience, even if rear-seat space is limited. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and checked carefully before you commit.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Mustang?
At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether the car has any accident or title issues. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with performance-oriented use. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and how the car drives, since those details matter more than the badge alone.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Mustang?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.
- Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,087 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.32% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,381, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Mustang's resale value?
The current average of $26,586 sits slightly below last year's $27,216.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make future resale a little more competitive if you buy at the wrong price. If you pay close to the lower end of the range, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation exposure later. Strong demand for the Mustang nameplate still helps support used values, especially when the car is well kept and appealing to enthusiasts.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.32% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $22,345, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $26,586 average.
- It feels more refined while keeping the Mustang’s familiar pony-car identity.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $26,142, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $26,586 average.
- It offers multiple powertrain choices and strong value for money.
The bottom line: The 2019 is the best fit if you want strong owner satisfaction, a broad listing pool, and a market that is still reasonably negotiable. If price is your top priority, the 2018 is the better value play, while the 2020 is the better nearby alternative if you want a similar price point with a slightly newer model-year option.
