Tri-zone climate control replaces dual-zone and bright roof-rails are now standard on the range-topping Platinum trim. The Expedition comes standard with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. This allows a V6 engine to achieve V8 power without a significant penalty in fuel consumption. Ford offers a Platinum Series version of this engine that makes 400 horsepower and 480 pound feet of torque with premium gas. The standard V6 features stop-start technology, allowing it to conserve fuel when stopped. Power is sent through a 10-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels or available four-wheel drive with low range. When properly equipped, the Expedition can tow up to 9,300 pounds. Four-wheel drive (4WD) models also come standard with tow-hooks, adding to their work capabilities.
