Is the 2016 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Ford Expedition earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise the smooth ride, spacious interior, and quiet operation, and many also note favorable fuel efficiency for a large SUV. That makes it a strong fit if you want a comfortable family hauler with plenty of passenger room and everyday usability. With 30.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2016 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to dependable day-to-day comfort, with praise for the smooth ride and spacious cabin that help it feel easy to live with over time. Some owners do mention reliability concerns, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition before committing. For long-term ownership, the biggest risk is buying a poorly maintained example rather than the model itself.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Expedition?

At 63.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and confirm whether prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since those can reveal past accident issues. It also makes sense to focus on how the cabin, suspension, and electronics have held up, because those areas matter most in a family SUV.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Expedition?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 920 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.46% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,973, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $12,973 sits slightly below last year's $13,722.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can limit how quickly you recover your purchase price later. If you buy near the low end of the range and keep the SUV in strong condition, you give yourself a better chance of minimizing depreciation. Demand should remain supported by the model’s family-friendly space and comfort.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,400, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $12,973 average.
• It brings a meaningful mechanical update with a more fuel-efficient EcoBoost V6.

The bottom line: Choose the 2016 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and availability. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the better value-oriented alternative.
