That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can limit upside if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, it may help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and maintain it well, you can help protect its future value when it’s time to trade or sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,412, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,081 average.
• It offers a familiar design with a notable efficiency-minded powertrain update.

The bottom line: Choose the 2016 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and availability. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the better value-focused alternative.
