Used 2019 Ford Expedition for Sale near Minnesota
In an automotive landscape dominated by small and midsize crossover SUVs, there is still a need for rugged, full-size SUVs with the cabin space of a minivan and the capability of a pickup truck. Full-size SUVs like the 2019 Ford Expedition, which is one year off a 2018 complete redesign. For 2019, the Expedition carries over, with the exception of some new special editions and content availability changes.
The front end of the Expedition looks like a bigger version of the popular Ford Explorer midsize SUV. But from the A-pillar back, things appear to be inspired by the Expedition’s rival, the Chevrolet Tahoe.
The cabin is where the Expedition shines. Previous versions of this large SUV featured drab interiors that were barely a step up from their F-150 pickup truck siblings. While the Expedition’s cab still borrows from the F-150, it offers more accommodating appointments, including available leather and woodgrain in the center console.
The Expedition has three rows of seating. It has capacity for 8 with a middle bench, or 7 with second-row captain’s chairs. The Expedition has 19.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. With the third row folded, the Expedition has 57.5 cubic feet, and folding both rear rows provides an impressive 104.6 cubic feet.
For those who need more cargo space, Ford offers the Expedition MAX. It's nearly a foot longer than the standard Expedition, it provides 36 cubic feet behind the third row, 73.3 behind the second row, and with all rear seats folded, an impressive 121.5 cubic feet of cargo space.
Trims for the Expedition include XL, XLT, Limited, and Platinum. Standard features on the Expedition include a Class IV trailer hitch, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, keyless entry with push-button start, USB ports, and SYNC 3 infotainment system with 8-inch color touchscreen. Tri-zone climate control replaces dual-zone and bright roof-rails are now standard on the range-topping Platinum trim.
The Expedition can include features such as remote start, a rear-seat entertainment system, a massive panoramic sunroof, and retractable running boards. Other available features include second-row bucket seats, a voice-activated navigation system, and a hands-free power liftgate.
For 2019, Ford offers the Special Edition Package. It includes 22-inch black painted wheels, 360-degree surround-view camera, LED head- and fog lights, active park assist, and a heavy-duty trailer tow package.
The Expedition comes standard with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. This allows a V6 engine to achieve V8 power without a significant penalty in fuel consumption. This engine puts out 375 horsepower and 470 pound feet of torque.
Turbocharging can also change the boost level. Ford offers a Platinum Series version of this engine that makes 400 horsepower and 480 pound feet of torque with premium gas. The standard V6 features stop-start technology, allowing it to conserve fuel when stopped.
Power is sent through a 10-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels or available four-wheel drive with low range. When properly equipped, the Expedition can tow up to 9,300 pounds. Four-wheel drive (4WD) models also come standard with tow-hooks, adding to their work capabilities.
The Expedition features a Terrain Management system, which can alter the throttle, transmission, and traction control settings for different driving conditions. It provides Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, EcoSelect, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Sand, and Mud/Rut drive modes.
Standard safety features include a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, a tire-pressure monitoring system, traction control with roll stability control, and even an external washer for the reversing camera. The Expedition is available with driver-assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring system, lane-departure warning, and active park assist with side parking sensors.
If truck-like capability and massive cargo space are among your top needs, the Expedition is a handsome, high-tech, and well-equipped way of getting the job done.
4.9 Overall rating
(43 reviews)I was lucky enough to purchase this car with low mileage. The Expedition XLT with the 202A trim package has everything I was looking for and mine even came with a panoramic roof. It rides like a luxury liner should.
I have owned 2 other Expeditions in the past and working in buying my 3rd. For the family, comfort, roominess, and haul anything you need, The Expedition checks all my families boxes!
We have kids that like to be in each others space in the car, the platinum has the captain’s chairs in the middle, which is the main reason we went with platinum vs limited, but there are a lot of extra features that are a bonus. So far the kids have been better!
Love all the room and the way the Expedition drives! I love sitting up high and the inside is so comfortable.
I love the access to the 3rd row feature... what I mean is that the middle row can have a carseat strapped into it, and the seat will slide forward & tilt to allow passengers in the 3rd row. Other vehicles of similar size would require the carseat to be taken out to fold the seats down & climb into the 3rd row. I also love apple CarPlay, valet setting, & the Ford app to do remote start for the vehicle. We have the XLT model, so we dont have some features like PowerLift Gate, heated seats, or power recline on any seats, but these were features worth giving up to get the space & ease of getting my kids in and out of the vehicle!
