CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Dodge Challenger

Summary
With 238 currently listed for sale near Washington, DC and an average price of $28,191.00, 15.1% of 2019 Dodge Challengers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Dodge Challenger 4.91 / 5 stars.
71.4% of 2019 Challenger models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Dodge Challenger stands out as a muscle car that blends old-school attitude with modern usability. It is part of the third generation, a long-running design that stayed largely unchanged while Dodge kept it fresh with different powertrains, bold colors, special editions, and a 2015 facelift. That formula gives the Challenger a distinctive appeal: it looks and feels like a classic American coupe, but it also offers a wide range of versions for buyers who want anything from an entry-level V6 model to a far more serious performance setup.
For 2019, one of the Challenger’s notable strengths is its breadth of hardware and equipment. The model was available with Pentastar V6 and Hemi V8 engines, along with manual and automatic transmissions, and it could be had with performance features such as adaptive suspension, launch control, and Brembo brakes and calipers. It was also a practical choice for a muscle car, with a user-friendly Uconnect infotainment system that included a touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, plus seating for five. Widebody versions were offered for some trims in 2019, adding broader fenders and extra visual presence.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Challenger’s size and personality can make it less universally easy to live with, and owner feedback points to concerns about visibility, snowy-weather handling, and running costs such as insurance and fuel. Even so, the 2019 Dodge Challenger remains appealing because it delivers strong character, plenty of choice, and a rare mix of performance and everyday convenience.

I love it. It’s everything I’ve been looking for. If you’re looking for entry into muscle cars but you’re a little intimidated by the V8 this is definitely a good option, or if you want a good daily this is the way to go!

Just about all the features you might want in a performance big engine sports car. This five year old vehicle is a good value considering the mileage, condition and depreciation curve. What’s missing? Sunroof maybe but not a deal breaker for me. Other models to consider would be a Corvette or Camaro.

Owners rate it 4.91/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with strong enthusiasm around the car’s lasting appeal and everyday livability. That said, the same feedback highlights ownership costs, so reliability should be weighed alongside the expense of keeping one on the road.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic satisfaction and more about whether the car was maintained well enough to avoid costly wear-related surprises.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Dodge Challenger?
At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has performance equipment or signs of hard use. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and any evidence of cosmetic or structural repair before you commit.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Dodge Challenger?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,799 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.90% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 60.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,340.86, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Dodge Challenger's resale value?
The current average of $24,328 sits slightly below last year's $25,056.
That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale gains may be more gradual unless the car is especially well kept. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot, because buyers tend to pay more for examples that look cared for and have a clean history.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.91/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.90% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.91/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $29,457, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $24,328 average.
- It adds a 50th Anniversary package and fresh color and interior choices.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2019 is the primary path because it combines lower pricing with strong owner satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly newer model with a few added touches, the 2020 is the secondary path for buyers who care more about incremental updates than upfront savings.
