CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Dodge Challenger

Summary
With 231 currently listed for sale near Los Angeles, CA and an average price of $30,243.00, 24.2% of 2019 Dodge Challengers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Dodge Challenger 4.91 / 5 stars.
77.1% of 2019 Challenger models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Dodge Challenger stands out as a muscle car that blends old-school attitude with modern usability. It is part of the third generation, a long-running design that stayed largely unchanged while Dodge kept it fresh with different powertrains, bold colors, special editions, and a 2015 facelift. That formula gives the Challenger a distinctive appeal: it looks and feels like a classic American coupe, but it also offers a wide range of versions for buyers who want anything from an entry-level V6 model to a far more serious performance setup.
For 2019, one of the Challenger’s notable strengths is its breadth of hardware and equipment. The model was available with Pentastar V6 and Hemi V8 engines, along with manual and automatic transmissions, and it could be had with performance features such as adaptive suspension, launch control, and Brembo brakes and calipers. It was also a practical choice for a muscle car, with a user-friendly Uconnect infotainment system that included a touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, plus seating for five. Widebody versions were offered for some trims in 2019, adding broader fenders and extra visual presence.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Challenger’s size and personality can make it less universally easy to live with, and owner feedback points to concerns about visibility, snowy-weather handling, and running costs such as insurance and fuel. Even so, the 2019 Dodge Challenger remains appealing because it delivers strong character, plenty of choice, and a rare mix of performance and everyday convenience.

I love it. It’s everything I’ve been looking for. If you’re looking for entry into muscle cars but you’re a little intimidated by the V8 this is definitely a good option, or if you want a good daily this is the way to go!

Just about all the features you might want in a performance big engine sports car. This five year old vehicle is a good value considering the mileage, condition and depreciation curve. What’s missing? Sunroof maybe but not a deal breaker for me. Other models to consider would be a Corvette or Camaro.

Yes — the 2019 Dodge Challenger earns a 4.91/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction.
Drivers consistently praise its power, stylish design, and comfortable ride. Many also like the old-school muscle car feel paired with modern features, which makes it appealing if you want character without giving up everyday usability.
Use it if you want a coupe with a strong personality, a roomy cabin for the class, and a mix of performance and convenience. With 28.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Dodge Challenger reliable?
Owners rate it 4.91/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on a trouble-free feel, strong performance, and the kind of long-term appeal that keeps owners happy. That said, some drivers mention visibility, snowy-weather handling, and higher running costs, so reliability should be weighed alongside the realities of ownership.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright satisfaction and more about whether the car was maintained carefully and used in a way that fits its performance-focused nature.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Dodge Challenger?
At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden body, suspension, or wear-related issues. Focus closely on condition, because a performance coupe can hide expensive repairs if it has been driven hard or repaired poorly.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Dodge Challenger?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,814 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.14% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 59.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,556.29, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Dodge Challenger's resale value?
The current average of $24,626 sits slightly below last year's $25,166.
That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well, keep the car in strong condition, and avoid overpaying upfront so depreciation has less room to work against you.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.91/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.14% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.91/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $29,247, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $24,626 average.
- It adds new colors, extra interior choices, and a 50th Anniversary package.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and a few cosmetic and trim updates, the 2020 is the secondary path for buyers who care more about freshness than price.
