CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Dodge Challenger

Summary
With 229 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,962, 23.6% of 2019 Dodge Challenger listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Dodge Challenger 4.91 / 5 stars.
74.2% of 2019 Dodge Challenger listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Dodge Challenger stands out as a modern muscle car that keeps a classic coupe formula alive while still offering everyday usability. It is a five-passenger coupe with a user-friendly Uconnect infotainment system that includes a touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, which helps make it feel more practical than its old-school styling might suggest. Buyers also get a wide range of powertrain choices, manual and automatic transmissions, and a broad spread of trims and special editions, so the Challenger can be tailored from relatively accessible to seriously high-performance.
What makes the 2019 model especially distinctive is how much character Dodge packed into the third-generation Challenger without changing its basic shape. The car was designed on a platform suitable for both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and some trims offered Widebody variations in 2019 that added broader fenders. Other available performance hardware included adaptive suspension, launch control, and Brembo performance brakes and calipers, while special editions brought spoilers, hood scoops, unique fascia and grille designs, special upholstery, and distinctive badging. That combination gives the Challenger a strong visual presence and a wide performance range, which is a big part of its appeal.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Challenger’s size and muscle-car focus mean it is not the most subtle choice, and owner feedback points to concerns about visibility and snowy-weather handling. It can also be expensive to own, especially when insurance and fuel costs are taken into account. Even so, for shoppers who want a coupe with unmistakable style, plenty of personality, and a broad mix of performance options, the 2019 Dodge Challenger has a lot to offer.

I love it. It’s everything I’ve been looking for. If you’re looking for entry into muscle cars but you’re a little intimidated by the V8 this is definitely a good option, or if you want a good daily this is the way to go!

Just about all the features you might want in a performance big engine sports car. This five year old vehicle is a good value considering the mileage, condition and depreciation curve. What’s missing? Sunroof maybe but not a deal breaker for me. Other models to consider would be a Corvette or Camaro.

There are 1,778 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2019 Dodge Challenger a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Dodge Challenger earns a 4.91/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its power, stylish design, and comfortable ride, and many appreciate the old-school muscle-car feel paired with modern features. The overview also shows why it appeals to you if you want a five-passenger coupe with everyday usability, a user-friendly infotainment system, and a wide range of trims and performance choices. With 29.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.
Is the 2019 Dodge Challenger reliable?
Owners rate it 4.91/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback highlights a car that many owners enjoy living with over time, especially for its power, comfort, and distinctive character. Drivers also describe it as a model they feel good about owning, even with the usual muscle-car tradeoffs. For used buyers, that kind of satisfaction can reduce long-term ownership risk, though you should still verify maintenance history and condition carefully.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Dodge Challenger?
At 59.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns before you commit. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has performance upgrades, visible wear, or signs of hard use. Focus on overall condition, because a used Challenger’s value can vary a lot depending on how it was driven and maintained.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Dodge Challenger?
This is a selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.
- Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,778 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.58% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 59.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,561, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Dodge Challenger's resale value?
The current average of $25,007 sits slightly below last year's $25,671.
That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the car is kept. If you maintain it well and avoid accident history, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell. Strong demand for well-kept examples can help support pricing, especially for shoppers who want this model’s style and performance mix.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.91/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 59.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.58% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.91/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $28,931, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $25,007 average.
- It adds new colors, extra interior choices, and a 50th Anniversary package for some trims.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year and a few added appearance and trim touches, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider.
